It is notable for its protracted development, which has been ongoing since 1997 and has no definitive release date.

Forever stars its titular character, Duke Nukem, and is the fourth game of the main series. Like its predecessor, Duke Nukem 3D, Forever is a first-person shooter and is being directed by George Broussard, one of the creators of the original Duke Nukem game.

The plot of Forever has been presented through released footage and screenshots. 3D Realms released trailers at the 1998 and 2001 E3 conventions and screenshots between those years. However, as Forever has gone through extensive changes since its last trailer, the plot still remains unclear as of 2007.

The status of several secondary characters remains unclear. In the November 1997 issue of PC Gamer, Scott Miller stated that Doctor Proton, Duke's original nemesis, would return. It is unknown if Doctor Proton is still in the game. In the 1998 trailer, Duke was paired up with a female sidekick named Bombshell, but she did not appear in the 2001 one.

The 2001 trailer shows an alien invasion in Las Vegas. It features Duke fighting with several weapons (most prominently a rifle), his Desert Eagle and the shrinking gun. Duke fights the aliens in many areas: a mine, some rural areas, the streets of Las Vegas, on water, indoor areas, etc.

No One Lives Forever

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/nolf/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Your Mission: Assume the role of Cate Archer, a beautiful but deadly Operative working for UNITY - a super secret organization fighting to free the world from the clutches of H.A.R.M. From tense subterfuge to in-your-face combat, No One Lives Forever.

No One Lives Forever departs from other first-person shooters in the variety of ways you interact with the environment. Thanks to the advanced capabilities of the Lithtech engine, at different times in the game you'll find yourself riding a motorcycle or even falling through the air without a parachute.

A novel feature of the game is its array of gadgets, including a body-removing powder (for disposing of incriminating corpses), lock picks, and an electronic poodle to distract guard dogs. Additionally, the missions are littered with "intelligence items": textual notes which often provide humorous side-notes to the game.

Of course, No One Lives Forever isn't just a series of mindless exercises in avoiding or shooting guards. The game features a rich story that owes a lot of inspiration to its roots in the spy thriller genre. A movie-like video at the beginning of the game sets the stage for the action: Someone is killing off U.N.I.T.Y.'s agents, and it's up to Archer and fellow spy Bruno Lawrie to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Battleships Forever

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/battleshipsforever/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 Introduction
Battleships Forever is a freeware tactical Real Time Strategy game that puts you in command of a small fleet of warships in space. Combat and damage mechanics are extremely detailed. Everything is simulated in game if possible. There are no abitrary "to hit chance" values in Battleships Forever. The game also features many innovative mechanics that you've never seen before. For example, the Cronus Battleship sports a Flux Shield generator that allows you to draw a defensive force shield around your ships in any shape you want. Another example are the Deflector modules that are used extensively through the game. These modules make a single section of a ship totally invulnerable to fire. This means that you will have to manoeuvre your ships to attack sections of the enemy ships not protected by Deflectors while keeping your own protected sections facing the enemy. Position is paramount!

Players will command picked fleets made up of Battleships, Destroyers and Patrol Craft. The completed game will include ten campaign missions and multiple skirmish modes.
