Based on Games Workshop's popular Warhammer fantasy war game, WAR features next generation Realm vs. Realm (RvR) game play that will immerse players in a world of perpetual conflict.

Upon entering WAR, players must determine their allegiance and join an Army. Those inclined towards the side of good may fight for the Armies of Order as an obstinate Dwarf, noble High Elf, or loyal human soldier of the Empire. Those inclined towards darker deeds may side with the sinister Armies of Destruction as a savage Greenskin (Orc or Goblin), corrupt Dark Elf, or marauding human worshipper of Chaos.

RvR combat takes place on three fronts where ancient foes wage an unending war Dwarfs vs. Greenskins, High Elf vs. Dark Elf, and Empire vs. Chaos. Players begin the game fighting their ancestral enemy, but are free to journey to other fronts to help their allies in their ongoing struggles.

The ultimate goal in RvR combat is the sacking of an enemy's capital city. To do this, an army must invade and take control of the opposition's homeland. Deciding battles take place on objective-based battlefields and in instanced scenarios - point-balanced battles that make use of NPC mercenaries known as Dogs of War.

For the first time, WAR's RvR system integrates both Player vs. Player (PvP) combat and Player vs. Environment (PvE) quests on the same map. Every aspect of the game, including PvE missions, is geared towards the greater war in some important way. However, players are not required to participate in PvP combat, and may aid in the RvR war effort and enjoy the game in its entirety via PvE content.

You'll become a brave adventurer protecting the Maple World, and if you're exhausted from all the intense battles and competition, you may one day build your own house at a quiet rural village, enjoying the life of a recluse who welcomes visitors.

From Lith Harbor that welcomes you from a long journey from Maple Island, you'll run into such fascinating towns as Henesys - the village of bowmen with comfy mushroom-shaped houses gathered together; Ellinia - the village of magicians with mysterious spells embedded between tall trees; Perion - the village of warriors with the fighting spirit typical of the Indians living in highlands; and Kerning City - the village of thieves that reminds you of the back alleys of dark cities.

You'll be playing the game at Victoria Island where all these diverse and unique towns and fields coexist.
A varied host of monsters populate the benighted, medieval terrain; mysterious artifacts of great power embellish vast treasure hoards; and sorcerers, fighters, and rogues plot both heroic alliances and base villainy. However, Asheron's Call retains a strong flavor all its own, with an original backstory and creatures, and unparalleled flexibility in character creation and development. After selecting your attire and facial features from millions of possible combinations, customize your skill set to make your character truly unique. As you defeat foes, you can allocate experience to not only specific skills but also the base attributes like strength and intelligence. And the allegiance system grants you power and prestige as you recruit followers to your service. Enter the vast and magical world of Dereth, where a new and heroic identity awaits you!
The Matrix Online is a MMORPG set in the fictional universe of The Matrix, made popular by various movies and books. This MMOG features a streamlined combat system unique among MMOs, comprising attacks and special abilities which personify the Matrix world. Examples include "bullet time", "wire fu" and "systemic anomalies". Players may side with one of three factions (Zionist Humans, Exiles, or Machines) and join in the ongoing war against the other two. Missions in The Matrix Online, unlike many MMOs, are randomly generated, involved, multi-tiered undertakings which encompass such Matrix-like activities as hacking, lock-picking and disabling security devices.

The Matrix Online is praised for being the first MMORPG ever to feature a storyline delivered cinematically and in mission packs made available each week between game updates. Special live events arranged and acted out by the Sony Online Entertainment game developers also help move the storyline along. Hero Online is free to play with cash shop items available, much like Legend of Ares, another MMORPG created by Netgame, or RuneScape, created by Jagex, and many other MMORPG's. The player, when creating a character, is not only able to choose the gender of his/her character, but what kind of weapons their character will be using. These weapon proficiencies may or may not affect the job class people will choose when they reach a certain level for job change. Each of the four characters specializes in his or her own weaponry. The original title enjoyed great popularity, with speculation (uncomfirmed by Microsoft) that subscription reached as high as 120,000 players at it's peak. Asheron's Call 2 did not meet the expectations of the publishers, having launched in November of 2002 with "Asheron's Call 2: Fallen Kings" and continuing on with the "Legions" content expansion until the plug was pulled on December 30, 2005.

The original game still lives beyond it's sequel, now having been returned to the control of the developer Turbine Entertainment Software, and has moved on to it's second expansion "Asheron's Call: Thrones of Destiny", currently the latest content available.

As for Asheron's Call 2, although players were chiefly approving of the content, gameplay dynamics and greatly enhanced graphics, the original Asheron's Call player base was somewhat divided, and at release the game suffered initial problems of server instability, engine bugs, balance and combat flaws, and critical chat system problems. Also of note are the high system requirements, challenging to many gamers of the time, and perhaps even moreso to the rpg community in particular.

Although Turbine and Microsoft proved capable and commited to addressing the many release issues, the game never overcame the poor launch. Although the publishers have not disclosed the numbers, it is estimated that Asheron's Call 2 peaked briefly at about 50,000 players, and was closer to 10,000 at the time that is was cancelled.
It is currently in Open Beta. Like most 3D MMORPGs, it is a point and click game, where players can attack monsters, pick up items, and talk to NPCs.
The game contains two nations which a player can choose to join, Holy Empire and Religious Alliance; four classes, Knight, Spearman, Archer and Sorcerer. To become a stronger character, the player must kill monsters for EXP (experience points) to level up. As a player advances in levels, it is possible to pick fights, not only with monsters, but with players of either country.
Players can form guilds which allow for more social interaction, other people to quest with, and the addition of a cape and guild tag. They can also engage in guild wars, involving two guilds fighting each other. Upon reaching level 40, players can take part in scheduled territorial wars, and fight against members of the opposing nation.
