Bound to the land, these creatures hold a key to a mystical power of revival - a power you must obtain to waken a loved one.

Shadow of the Colossus is a majestic journey through ancient lands to seek out and destroy gigantic mythical beasts. Armed with your wits, a sword and a bow, use cunning and strategy to topple each behemoth.

Homeworld

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/homeworld/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Homeworld's epic tale begins in the far reaches of the universe. You were the benign lords of a peaceful society located in the center of a lush spiral galaxy. For as long as anyone could remember, no one challenged your peaceful existence. But then came the conquerors, invading with the sole purpose of overtaking your world. Billions died, and the survivors were relocated to a cold, lifeless planet on the edge of the galaxy. Hundreds of years later, all knowledge of your previous existence has been lost. Only vague myths remain, until the discovery of an ancient tablet buried within the ruins of a half-destroyed craft in the great-banded desert. This Guidestone reawakened the knowledge of your ancestry, and set your race on the path home - coordinates leading straight into the heart of the galaxy. Sixty years ago, construction began on the giant Mothership that will carry millions of your people into deep space. Construction is now complete. Your journey to the Homeworld begins here...

Homeworld: Cataclysm

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/homeworldcataclysm/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Homeworld: Cataclysm, developed by Barking Dog Studios (now Rockstar Vancouver), is the first official 'episode' within the Homeworld universe, taking you back to the setting of Homeworld roughly 15 years after the events of the original game ended. Improving upon the Homeworld interface, Cataclysm presents new features such as waypoints and sensor-manager attack commands to add a new dimension to the revolutionary combat and gameplay pioneered in Homeworld.

In the campaign, you begin by Cataclysm commanding a sect - or kiith - that has been marginalized after your people's victorious return to their homeworld of Hiigara. Traveling into uncharted space to repel an attack against another kiith, your fleet happens upon an alien probe that harbors an ancient evil. As events unravel, you will need to survive the onslaught of an enemy with terrifying abilities you can't match, fight off opportunistic Turanic Raiders, and deflect the firepower of Imperial loyalists bent on destroying you and reclaiming Hiigara.

Much as in Homeworld, gameplay revolves around a central command ship, but one that produces an entirely new class of fighting, resourcing and support craft with new technologies and weaponry. The new, robust multiplayer system supports up to eight combatants, each playing one of two very different sides with their own tactical options.

Kingdom Hearts II

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/kingdomheartsII/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 From IGN.Com:
The unlikely but successful collaboration between Square Enix and Disney Interactive returns in Kingdom Hearts II; where a darkly-cloaked Mickey Mouse joins Donald, Goofy, and Sora as they continue their adventure into several popular Disney-inspired worlds. Battling against the Heartless once more, the dedicated group of friends now find themselves up against an all-new enemy threat -- a mummy-wrapped ruler of unknown origin. Also fresh to the series is a brand new meter known as the "Transformation Drive" that allows players to merge with other team members to create more powerful versions of themselves. New costume designs, improved camera controls, and the answer to lingering plot questions from the first game are also included. It did inherit the epic scale and style of play of Total Annihilation however.

Set in a world of Magic, the player plays as one of four sides:

Aramon, the traditional fantasy style race, with knights, castles, and mages.

Veruna, the powerful maidens of the sea, with almost complete ship battle dominance, crossbowmen, and cannon towers.

Zhon, the beast race, with hunters, giants, and dragons.

Taros, the 'evil' race, with skeletons, zombies, ghost ships, and demons.

Epic battles, better graphics then its predecessor, and a compelling storyline make this game great.

Freelancer

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/Freelancer/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Freelancer is a space-based combat simulator/Extremely open-ended Role playing game. Spanning several star systems, and easily 100 hours of gameplay, the game was a marvel of its time. It has an excellent plotline, set in the same universe as Starlancer, and it will keep you engaged for quite awhile.

You play as a freelancer, or mercenary, out to make his way in the universe, and you eventually become entangled in a plot of galactic importance.

The controls are awkward at first, being one of the few mouse based games rather than WASD for control, but it quickly becomes intuitive.

One of the first non-MMORPG games to sport an online mode that could handle up to (in one case) 100 players in a persistant universe, the game is almost considered to be an MMORPG. "The Shapers have the ability to create life, in any form they choose. They can make plants to grow in harsh wastelands, living tools that obey their commands, and powerful monsters to crush any who oppose them. They jealously guard their powers and destroy any who question their will.
Some of their creations, tired of bondage, rose up. Jealous humans, wanting the powers of the Shapers for themselves, joined them. Now the lands of Terrestia are full of ruins, refugees, and maddened mutant beasts, hunting for prey. There is war. And the Shapers are winning."

You play as an apprentice life crafter, a rebel in the war against the Shapers. Of course, like most Spiderweb games, you have a choice of allegiance. Eventually, you hear rumors about some ancient building in an enemy territory(there is a war in this world) but you risk going anyways, because there is supposed to be a great treasure there. While you there, you learn about ancient forces that where forced into a near permanent hibernation because of the expansion of buildings and such, making over half of the planet an entire city, the other half being a dark forest kind of place, hosting the creatures that the human race is at war with. Upon further exploration of the ruins, you find an ancient machine. The scriptures near it say that upon activation, it will end all conflict in the world, without using violence. You activate the machine, and the screen starts to white out. When you wake up, your in the middle of a village full of trees, stone buildings, and treehouses(actual houses, not clubhouses) You go through the game, choosing the path you want to take, like warrior, mage, maybe merchant, stuff like that. Anyways, if you start exploring the game world, you will hear more rumors spreading quickly throughout the world that the dragons and wolves are being possesed. When you pursue these rumors, you go to find one of the creatures, and find that they are true. After a short walkthrough, you go about to set its soul in its body, which is when the demon form leaves the dragons/wolves body, and a cutscene activates. It shows your character standing there struck with terror. The demon rips through the air, charging at you. You clench, preparing for impact, but as it hits you a flashback occurs, showing the old futuristic world. Depending on if your a dragonheart, wolfheart, or human, it will be different, but in the end, shows you the location of an old armor and weapon and then the flashback ends. Back in the real world, you start fighting the demon. After you try attacking it for a bit, your journal pops up, and says that you can't seem to be able to kill it, and that leaving is probably your best choice. You hunt down your races senteint armor, in one of the few groves that survived the world wipe, which pretty much reverted the world to its state of being before the humans declared war on all the other races. Once you get the sentient armor, you can defeat the demons. After you slay about half the demons, they evolve into more powerful creatures that can't be defeated by the ring, or even the whole set of armor. So you have to find different ways to kill them instead, which brings you to a prophet of some sort, who sensed youwhere coming, and set up a training zone that tests your patience, intelligence...

Excessive Speed

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/excessivespeed/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 From the Publisher's web site:
