Your mission was to infiltrate the Nazi fortress Castle Hollehammer and find the plans for Operation Eisenfaust, the Nazi's blueprint for building the perfect army. Rumors are that deep within the castle the diabolical Dr. Schabbs has perfected a technique for building a fierce army from the bodies of the dead. It's so far removed from reality that it would seem silly if it wasn't so sick. But what if it were true?
As an escaped prisoner in a Nazi war prison, you will move smoothly through a 3D world full of amazing detail and animation. Unlike other 3D games, you'll run through a sensational and realistic 3-D environment, with intelligent moving guards and opponents.

Castle Wolfenstein

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/castlewolfenstein/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Players begin the game by taking a gun and ammo from a dead cellmate in an effort to escape the Castle. Players can either run, sneak, or kill their way past the castle guards. Shooting was de-emphasized considerably from other games of its time and techniques such as stealing guard uniforms or pursuading guards to surrender at gun point were brought to the forefront.
It is widely considered to be the first game in the stealth genre and it inspired countless other games both in the genre and as extensions of the story. The developers at id software used this game as inspiration for Wolfenstein3D which was itself a genre defining title. Silas Warner (1949-2004) was the developer of Castle Wolfenstein.

Stronghold

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/stronghold/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Create the best castle you can, then defend it against the hostile approaching hordes.
