Both players get 7 pawns and 1 king on a 8x8 board. The goal is to get your opponent's king or 6 of his pawns. Each turn, the player may select 1 stone and move it straight or in an L-bow. You cannot jump over stones, but you can step onto your opponent's stone to take it. The numbers on your stones indicate the number of tiles they can move in a turn. When the Mastermind option is selected, the stones change in value when you move it. Pawns can get numbers 1-4, while the king only gets 1 or 2. A challenging game!

Setting the Mastermind option (to change the alue of your stones each move) will show numbers on the board so you will know the number you will get when you move a stone there.
The board is constructed of hexagonal tiles which are randomly placed in a large hexagon surrounded by water. Numbers are then placed on the hexagonal land tiles. Players take turns rolling dice which decide which land tiles produce resources that turn. Any player with a settlement or city adjacent to the tiles which number has been rolled will recieve resources which they can use to expand their colony. Distributed over XBox Live, Catan bares a 10 dollar price tag.

Dark Legions

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/darklegions/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

A beautiful mix of strategy and action.

Tentoumushi

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/tentoumushi/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

It is your duty as a ladybug to push small droplets of water in the special water holes. The slant on the gameplay comes in power-ups, which can change the numbers on the dice you're about to roll, send an opponent to the hospital (think jail in Monopoly) or upgrade all your owned properties to landmarks (think hotels in Monopoly), among other things.

The biggest difference, and what makes the game much quicker is the smaller board size, inability to trade and lack of "monopolies". Each property runs from one star to four star, and each star is worth $100 (buy a three star property for $300, for example). Then, when upgrading it (it can be upgraded three places), each rank costs that amount (upgrading a four star property to max is $1600, then!) and whatever the value is, that's what opponents (or, unfortunately, sometimes you) pay (so a two star place upgraded all the way - 3 times - is $800).

The game is much easier to figure out after a few play throughs, though, so give it a shot!

Ticket to Ride

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/ticket2ride/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Players collect train car cards that enable them to claim North American railway routes. Huge air, massive drop-offs, deep powder, and the nastiest tricks come together in one of tightest snowboarding games available. 1080 Avalanche is a worthy successor to the Nintendo 64 version of the game, with a wide variety of play modes, challenges, and secrets to keep you on your toes (or heels, if you're turning the other way).

1080 Avalanche is teeming with challenges. In Match Race mode, your goal is to beat an opponent to the bottom of the mountain in a variety of difficulty levels. Stick tricks on the way down to increase your rider's speed and power. There are multiple routes to find on each run, so be sure to scour the landscape for grindable trees and hidden shortcuts.

One of the best things about 1080 Avalanche is the element of surprise. Huge drop-offs can easily catch you off-guard, and if you don't land just right you're toast. Rockslides, natural wildlife, dizzying drops, and sudden weather changes keep things interesting, but nothing compares to the incredible avalanche sequences which will definitely get your heart racing.

1080 Avalanche is an awesome snowboarding game. The runs are designed perfectly, and there is a wide variety of tasks to complete before you unlock everything in the game. It's been over five years since the last 1080 became the first-ever 3D snowboarding game, and 1080 Avalanche proves that it's been worth the wait!

Mini Chess

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/minichess/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Linyca

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/linyca/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss
