But the moment you are free, you are besieged on all sides by insane bot-tanks. You must destroy or be destroyed and keep on your toes at all times. Luckily you can collect powerups that give you wacky weapons to help you stay alive. The lush, green hills are scattered with bots on the warpath, bots choking in their own smoke, floating orbs with special powers and ammunition, boulders, trees, AND the dreaded pit of doom. It is set in the 22nd century, during a new ice age. Currently, there have been over one million rounds played since its release.[1]

The game was built primarily for multiplayer use allowing a maximum 64 players on a server and allows a single player mode with AI bots on Conquest mode with a maximum up 16 players. It has its own ranking system to keep track of the user's stats similar to the one used in its predecessor, Battlefield 2. It additionally opens up a new field of vehicles not seen in Battlefield 2 as well as new futuristic weapons the player is able to use. Battlefield 2142 has an unlock system allowing the player to choose a new unlock every time they achieve a new rank rather than making them purchase the item. EA has also released an expansion pack called Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike which contains 3 new maps, 10 new unlocks, and 2 new vehicles.
The player can run left, right and jump, but can also turn the world clockwise and counterclockwise by 90 degrees. When this happens physics works the following way: as soon as rotation starts all objects get frozen and after rotation objects continue to move with their velocities (direction and speed) they had before. With this ability you can move objects and yourself but also need to keep orientation and watch out for dangerous situations. Don't worry though, your made out of paper so you can die as often as you want to.
The overall goal is to get through this collage of ripped paper. And if your quick - and don´t die too often - you might get into the highscore list.
This is a gameconcept for a mediainformatics course held by the igw at Vienna University of Technology. We made two levels that show different aspects of how actual gameplay could be like. The first level - the cave - is more jump and run style and is an easy one where you can practice and improve your rotation skills. The second one - the jungle - is an advanced level with more sophisticated puzzles. To solve them you have to apply the physical consequences of rotating the world to the player and other objects simultaneously.

Cookie Cruncher

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/cookiecruncher/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Welcome to Cookie Cruncher, my remake of "Yoshi's Cookie" which was released on the SNES. This game was created for the Retro Remakes competition 2004.

Playing the Game

Ten challengers await, each with ten cookie puzzles. Can you become the cookie eating king?

On each level you will be given a set number of moves in which to remove all the cookies from the puzzle board. The puzzles range in size from 2x2 up to 8x8.

To remove cookies you must make a complete row of column of the same type. This is done by scrolling them up, down, left and right.

The cookies are wrap-around - the one you move off the board will appear on the opposite side.

If all cookies are removed, you will move onto the next puzzle, and if not then you lose a "retry" and must attempt the stage again, or press escape and go back to the title screen.

When the game begins you have ten "retries" and five more are earned for every opponent you defeat.

There are passwords every ten stages, at the beginning of each new opponent.

Sounds simple? Well it is to begin with... But it get a little tougher as the levels progress.

But that's the way the cookie crumbles. Good luck!
This game was created for the Retro Remakes Competition 2004.

Playing the Game

Take control of your rookie trashman and lead him to the heady heights of head-trashman in a matter of days! You must guide trashman around various streets, locating and picking up the rubbish bins. These must be carried to the truck and emptied before being placed back where you found them.

However, things aren't as easy as they seem! Cars try to run you down, kids on bikes will run over your feet and make you move more slowly. Worst of all, tread on someone's lawn and you may find their dog snapping at your heels!

Each street must be completed within a set time limit, and extra care must be taken to stay off the grass and out of the bushes, as these will both drain your time limit incredibly quickly!

As a bonus, if you empty a house's bins perfectly you may be invited in for a certain amount of bonus time - and you'll need every second on some of the later levels!

Pull down to exit the house, but this can only be done after a couple of seconds inside.

After you have emptied all the bins you must walk up to the very top of the street, to complete the day's work and go home to rest until the next shift.

The game ends when you are run over and killed by a car, if you fail to complete your assigned task within the time limit three times, or if you complete all the assignments.

LinCity is an open-source free city construction game. Unlike SimCity, players build specific industries, rather then zones. The game focuses heavily on managing an economy and research development, the first leading to the latter. The game also differentiates itself through finite natural resources, such as ore, that players must extract.

Gameplay

Players begin the game with only a few buildings unlocked, residential sections, farms, and communes (charcoal burners). By managing this limited economy, the player must earn money to run an education system. Once this is developed, more complex structures become unlocked such as blacksmiths, manufacturing plants (light industry and mills), steel mills (heavy industry), hospitals, cricket fields, and universities. The end-game goal of LinCity is to construct space shuttle launchpads and evacuate the planet, before resources run out. However, an alternate "victory" can be won through the construction of renewable energy power plants and recycling centers, if a sustainable economy independent of coal and ore is acheived.

Tactical Force

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/TFO/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 - In Development Stage -

Cultivation is quite different from most other games. It is a social simulation, and the primary form of conflict is over land and plant resources---there is no shooting, but there are plenty of angry looks. It is also an evolution simulation. Within the world of Cultivation, you can explore a virtually infinite spectrum of different plant and gardener varieties.

All of the graphics, sounds, melodies, and other content in Cultivation are 100% procedurally generated at playtime. In other words, there are no hand-painted texture maps---instead, each object has a uniquely "grown" appearance. Every time you play, Cultivation generates fresh visuals, music, and behaviors.

KwonHo

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/kwonho/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

KwonHo: The Hero of Fist is a Korean online fighting game developed by Radio Games and is currently hosted by Hangame but is in the process of being translated and serviced for North America by their American counterpart ijji (Both of them owned by NHN). In Kwonho, the player has the role of creating his own character, choosing a fighting style and buying (or acquiring) clothing and/or items (such as tatoos, guitars, teddy bears and other miscellaneous items). A player's goal is to gain experience by fighting other players in a variety of game modes, or by fighting computer-controlled opponents in the Mission Mode. By winning these fights, a player acquires credits, which he can use to buy new techniques or items, and train to become the best fighter there is. However, there are items in the game that can only be purchased with Hangame/Ijji coins. These coins are available for purchase in the My Account section of the Ijji website.

Entropia Universe

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/entropiauniverse/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

What is the Entropia Universe?
