Introduction

According to legend, when the ravens depart the Tower of London, it will crumble to rubble and disaster will befall England. As man became more dependent on science, ancient lore and rituals were lost to the antiquity of time.

Classes

Mankind is a race of survivors. A rebellious few survive in the shadows of their former dominance, combining the holy, ancient, and arcane rites with the fringe sciences of the modern era.

Demons

Emerging from the swirling chaos of the Hellgate, the demons overwhelmed humanity's defenses. The Hellgate writhes and seethes like a living thing, a tornado of eldritch energies through which the minions of the netherworld surge forth.

Mods

Some equipment can be modified through the introduction of various technological and magical elements, commonly called Mods. These Mods are typically integrated into pre-defined slots or hard points on an item through a simple procedure that can be performed by any adventurer.
Within Eurale are seven kingdoms: Nisos, Aratoy, Oriam, Fornax, Elythria, Cathea, and Taberland. The seven kingdoms united into an uneasy alliance and built a citadel as a meeting place, which was named Avalon.

Within the land is a civilization of nomads known as the Sha'ahoul. Their religion values very highly the earth and nature and therefore they are against farming, the building of permanent structures, and similar practices which they feel destroys the earth. After discovering the existence of Eurale, they declared war on the seven kingdoms to eradicate their way of life.

Many refugees of the destruction caused by the Sha'ahoul took shelter in Avalon. The seven kingdoms sent military support to defend Avalon and the refugees. To the people of Eurale, Avalon is seen as the last hope at stopping the Sha'ahoul. The Sha'ahoul and their leader, Mithras, chose to overtake the citadel by setting up a siege around it.

The game begins with an entry in the hero's journal. The siege has been going on for several years. His brother, Corvus, serves as part of the military in Avalon. When their father dies, the hero feels that it is his obligation to inform Corvus of the sad news, so he becomes part of the crew of a ship sailing from Elythria to Avalon to deliver supplies. The Sha'ahoul manage to sink all of the ships except the one the hero is on. The ship reaches Avalon, but has lost most of its supplies. It is not possible to make a return voyage to Elythria and so the hero decides to stay at Avalon, inform Corvus of their father's death, and help out Avalon in whatever manner he can. The player gains control at this point and begins by speaking to Corvus and informing him about his father's death.

Furcadia

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/furcadia/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Furcadia is the magical world where the animals have learned to walk upon two legs and speak. The down and dirty:
This has been in development in a while. There is still a good deal of work to do to finish this and I'm reevaluating how I can best do this. Right now I'm planning on a more focused version. Focusing on the action of hand to hand weapons combat, and less on the magic casting and deep role playing aspect. There will still be magic but not the more complex type I have been planning for. Any feedback you can give me about what you think given the little you've seen will help me direct the future development. Your comments are most appreciated!
Mount & Blade is created by the dynamic duo of Armagan and Ipek (and probably a few more people now that assets are becoming more work-intensive), better known as TaleWorlds.

Egoboo

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/egoboo/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Egoboo is a top down rpg in the spirit of Nethack and other games of the Roguelike genre. It uses Open GL graphics and will have randomly generated maps and customizable characters. The objective of the project is to bring the fun and depth of roguelike gameplay, kicking and screaming, into the third dimension. It is still in development, but is at a playable state.

Galanz

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/galanz/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Galanz is a project I've been brainstorming over for quite some time now, it involves a Space Mercenary who is drawn to a planet by a disturbing message that has reached him (sound familiar?). Once he arrives, he sees that all traces of the natives have disapeared, the only things that inhabit the planet are strange monsters and the Robots created by the Natives. Galanz (The Main character in the game) goes out searching for any survivors, or clues to what has happened. Using his weaponry and his Psychic Abilities, he traverses the planet in order to discover just what is going on.

Influences are highly based on classics such as Metroid, Turrican, and the Andro-Synth sub-plot present in Star Control 2/Ur-Quan Masters.

The goal of the game is to basically find out what's going on. The "Galious" style gameplay is a reference to Knightmare 2: Maze of Galious, which was one of THE first Side Scrolling RPGs, complete with leveling and such. Of course, I'd like to go a little bit into more detail with this than what Galious did.

Since it's set to be like a NES game, there will be a restriction on the total buttons able to use, the current format it (in NES Controller format):

A - Shoot
B - Jump
Directional Pad - Move Left and Right, Aim Up and Down.
Start - Main Menu
Select - Use Psychic Ability

Psychic abilities won't be the usual "Fire Firebolt for X amount of P.P" but instead will be closer to actually changing the environment.

Can't jump over a huge wall? Flip gravity around. Can't toggle a switch? Go into E.S.P mode and flip it using your abilities. Oh snap, need to get the password, and the guy who might of had it is dead? Do a Mind Search on him, and find out his memories shortly before he met the wrong end of your gun.

This is the sorta thing I'm aiming for with this, not extremely complicated (mind sceens could just be cutsceens, and gravity for an object can easily be reversed), but fun and useful enough to warrant use.

However, I don't believe I can do this all by my own. As a Sprite/Traditional Artist or Designer, I will not be able to produce content fast enough alone, and coding is far from my strongest point. These are the current possistions available, if anyone is interested in helping out with this project, please PM me. Thanks for reading :D.

Needed!
Programmer - Average to Skilled Ability: Needs to be able to use Game Maker 6 or such, or another structure of coding that is compatible with Windows.

Music Composer - Average to Skilled ability: Needs to be able to produce catchy tunes that are not 10 second loops in the style of the NES chiptunes.

Sound Effects Engineer- Any skill level: Needs to be able to produce NES style sound effects (The Woosh Woosh noises and such).
These portals were used by royalty, travelers, merchants, peasants... anyone that had need to travel from one world to another could use them.

Whomever, whatever, however they were created was lost through the ages. Everyone believed that since the portals had existed since the beginning of time then they would last until the end of time. But then things changed.

Nobody knows exactly what happened. The disappearance of the portals are as much a mystery as their origins. The portals didn't all disappear at once. No, as my great-great grandfather tells it, it took about a year until the last known portal from this world to another was gone. The year was called the Year of Chaos.

There are a vast number of design features in Forgotten Legends that make our game different to others. The main difference is the way players level and the way the combat system works. Players will be able to attain higher levels of skill and power without the grind that occurs in the majority of other MMOS. The combat system is very strategic with huge amounts of customisation for players who like the freedom to design the way their characters fight.

On top of this, we have based the game on 2 other concepts, freedom and variety. Players have more freedom that other games - whether it be being able to completely change your battle style, what faction you fight for, or where you go. When it comes to variety Forgotten Legends offers players more than they could imagine with numerous viable ways for players to advance in the game.

Pirates of Port Royale

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/PoPR/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Pirates of Port Royale is a game that is based in the 17th century Caribbean...the age of exploration...the age of the new world.
GAMESPOT said,
After being canceled at Interplay, this sequel to the cult post-apocalyptic role-playing game was resurrected by Bethesda, where it is currently in development.

The Fallout series is in a way a descendant of Interplay's 1988 "Wasteland", to which Electronic Arts retains the rights. The Fallout series takes place in a fictional post-holocaust earth inhabited by the "Vault Dwellers" who survived the fallout of the brief but deadly nuclear war of 2077 in meticulously managed underground facilities, and a variety of others who met different fates, which include, of course, mutation.

The series introduces the player to a quest of survival and adventure in an often harsh world of varied cultures, where not quite all that was good of mankind has perished, and the player may determine their own morality, skill and creativity.

Bethesda Software announced in 2004 that they had acquired the rights to produce Fallout 3 and subsequent sequels, though Interplay retained the MMO rights (and in November of 2006 set in motion a process that might lead to the funding and creation of a Fallout MMORPG.)

As of April 12, 2007 Bethesda appears to have purchased the IP to the Fallout franchise outright, as development continues.

Game Features (both known and speculated):

Bethesda is using the Gamebryo engine, with which they previously produced The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Actor Liam Neeson has been cast for a major voice acting role.

RPG elements are at the heart of the Fallout series, and also a staple of Bethesda Software, so it is anticipated that this aspect will remain.

Open-ended non-linear gameplay is likely.

Three different perspectives: Isometric, behind the shoulder, and first person.

(New Details from Game Informer magazine)

Game runs on an evolved version of the Oblivion engine. Third person view has been reworked since the verdict was that the Oblivion version was bad.

Game starts with your birth and your mother's death in a vault hospital. This is essentially the character customization part of the game. Your father hands you up to have your DNA analyzed and you get to pick out all your character traits. Your dad takes off his mask to reveal similar traits to the ones you picked.

You grow up in the vault and as you grow you get your first book titled "You're Special" which allows you to choose you baseline stats for each of your 7 primary aptitudes. You'll also get your first weapons and wrist computer (menu) as you get older and take tests to determine the initial layout of your skills and traits.

Every aspect of character creation is based on S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. Of your 14 skills you can tag 3 to grow at a faster rate than the rest as you level up.

Battle system is called the Vault-tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S.). The article states. "While you'll certainly be able to tackle enemies in real time using first person shooting, V.A.T.S. lets players pause time and select a target at their leisure". Battle system still uses action points, but once you've used them up you'll still be able to fight targets in real time while they charge back up.

Game is still violent and gory. One of the featured screens is of a guy's head exploding in super gory detail. Apparently all gory deaths in the game will be in slow motion.

More than one way to play the game. Go balls out and kill people, or sneak past situations, or perhaps talk your way out of situations.

Enemies can target you just like you can target them, so you can get injured in very specific points on you body. This in addition to an all new health/radiation system. This new system has you measuring how radiated certain things (like water) are and how they affect you when you consume them.

Karma system returns.

The game does not scale like oblivion, so if you enter a high level area expect to be promptly murdered.

Level cap is 20.

Definite ending to the game, but there are 9 - 12 possible endings.

There are NPC's you can hire, but this is not a party based game.

The mysterious planet that was once a shining example of peace and unity, now lies in the ravages of a brutal war that destroyed its most beautiful and prosperous cities.

The seven races that inhabit Mea are as different from one another as the vast deserts, dense jungles, and frozen wastelands that cover its surface. Some of the inhabitants would appear monstrous and simplistic to a humanoid while others would amaze with their advanced technological achievements.

Though they are now scattered across the planet, the races once worked alongside each other for a mutual good that led to an advanced culture, the center of which was the holy city of Krewia.

From Krewia arose three leaders, the most gifted and powerful citizens of the time. They ruled the planet with justice and a fair hand, and led the world in achieving once unreachable goals.

However, much time passed, and an ugly shadow was cast over the lands, as the high council began to speak of purifying the planet of the filthy lower races.
War erupted, the council led a small but powerful army against the races of Mea.

The war was long, and devastating. Many cities fell quickly, as the era of peace had never brought a need for defenses. Millions died at the merciless hands of the council. However, in the final battle for Krewia, a desperate militia managed to unify all of the races and defeat the council, ending the great war.

Today, distrust and fear rules the land. Most of the survivors of the war are long since dead. Historical fact has given way to rumors and exaggeration among the remnants of Krewia and Sine. Some say that the council was destroyed; others say the council was so powerful that they could only be locked away in a secret place.

The world could never be as it once was. A new era dawns on the planet of Mea

Wilfred, the Hero

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/WilfredtheHero/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Wilfred, the Hero consists of four parts RPG, two parts cinematic, and one part music-oriented puzzles. Playing the game itself is pretty self-explanatory, but for the sake of those who love to get a dotted list with the pros and cons, some highlights include that characters gain skill points from chests rather than from leveling up, battles take place using a Action Time Bar (FF6 is the closest analogy I can draw) and, instead of dying, each character simply loses a life and gains a significant time penalty. Losing all lives, or, alternatively, if both characters are in the process of reviving at once, causes a game over. The cut-scenes are all fairly lengthy (and the dialogue is occasionally hyperbolic) so saving often is recommended.

The current version only covers the first third of the game (with a maximum level of 9), and development is paused currently. Even so, playing through the first bit is a fairly nice experience, and for those RPG-starved out there it's a very polished experience.
Blobbies Wars is the 1st Tactical Party game, a mix of both party games and common T-RPG mechanisms. Blobbies Wars is represented by these key ideas:

- Create a turn by turn tactical game, simple, fun and playable for everyone.

- Bring dynamism between each turn to the tactical game with stress games asking the player reflexes and rhythm. In one sentence, you don't have to wait anymore for your opponent.

- Keep an interesting replay value with various game modes including cooperative multi player mode and an epic solo adventure.
