Within Eurale are seven kingdoms: Nisos, Aratoy, Oriam, Fornax, Elythria, Cathea, and Taberland. The seven kingdoms united into an uneasy alliance and built a citadel as a meeting place, which was named Avalon.

Within the land is a civilization of nomads known as the Sha'ahoul. Their religion values very highly the earth and nature and therefore they are against farming, the building of permanent structures, and similar practices which they feel destroys the earth. After discovering the existence of Eurale, they declared war on the seven kingdoms to eradicate their way of life.

Many refugees of the destruction caused by the Sha'ahoul took shelter in Avalon. The seven kingdoms sent military support to defend Avalon and the refugees. To the people of Eurale, Avalon is seen as the last hope at stopping the Sha'ahoul. The Sha'ahoul and their leader, Mithras, chose to overtake the citadel by setting up a siege around it.

The game begins with an entry in the hero's journal. The siege has been going on for several years. His brother, Corvus, serves as part of the military in Avalon. When their father dies, the hero feels that it is his obligation to inform Corvus of the sad news, so he becomes part of the crew of a ship sailing from Elythria to Avalon to deliver supplies. The Sha'ahoul manage to sink all of the ships except the one the hero is on. The ship reaches Avalon, but has lost most of its supplies. It is not possible to make a return voyage to Elythria and so the hero decides to stay at Avalon, inform Corvus of their father's death, and help out Avalon in whatever manner he can. The player gains control at this point and begins by speaking to Corvus and informing him about his father's death.

Egoboo

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/egoboo/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Egoboo is a top down rpg in the spirit of Nethack and other games of the Roguelike genre. For here begins the roguelike Iter Vehemens ad Necem, a Violent Road to Death. If you choose to travel along it, you will dive into countless exciting adventures to gain items of great magic, attain powerful equipment made of mysterious materials, bathe in the blessings of mighty gods and recruit loyal allies of various shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, along the way you will also often be dangerously injured, poisoned, catch numerous diseases, lose several limbs and transform into manifold different kinds of pitiful creatures in the darkest depths of hostile dungeons. And, at the end of the road, you are bound to perish in a most gruesome and painful way. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Iter Vehemens ad Necem (IVAN) is a free graphical roguelike game, which currently runs in Windows, DOS and Linux. Unlike most roguelikes, which use ASCII graphics, IVAN uses an SDL-based tile graphics engine. This allows much more information to be displayed in the level map. For example, when the player or some monsters wield a weapon or wear armor, it's normally visible on the map. Also, several types of fluids (such as acid, blood, vomit, etc.) are visible on the map. This makes it possible to track a wounded monster by following a trail of blood across the dungeon.

IVAN employs an advanced bodypart handling system. In battle, one loses only if the head, torso, or groin is destroyed. If one's arms or legs take too much damage, they become severed, and the player will merely become disabled, and unable to wield a weapon with that hand, or have to bear greater burden. Many monsters can lose body parts as well. There are several ways to replace or reattach a lost limb, such as drinking healing potions or praying.

Another unique feature is the handling of materials. Each item, including body parts, has a material associated with it. There are several ways to change materials, such as scrolls or praying. For example, a hardened leather body armour may become significantly stronger if transmuted into a meteoric iron one. As this applies to body parts, one could harden a severed limb into stone or metal before reattaching it, thereby gaining a massive strength boost of strength at the cost of dexterity.

LambdaRogue

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/lambdarogue/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

In LambdaRogue, you play the role of the member of one the five religious orders of the underground country NeoTerr. Your mission is to travel down the river Styx and to find the reason why so many monsters come down the river since the last months. The river connects different populated areas with unpopulated wilderness in which you'll find dungeons to explore.

Unlike many over roguelikes, LambdaRogue has a detailed story. Every of the five religions is bound to one character class, and every class has it's own view on the ongoing events, reflecting in different story texts and class-specific quests. So if you have won the game with one class, the other four classes provide a completely new view on the same events.
the classic version.

a few numbers within an interstellar spaceship consisting of several
decks connected by elevators.
black balls with a few numbers, by either shooting them or seizing
control over them by creating connections in a short subgame of
electric circuits.

Secrets of the Domus Aurea

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/domus-aurea/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Secrets of the Domus Aurea is Eon Clash's entry into the Pascal Game Development contest 2007. Keep an eye on the home page for more information and downloads as they become available.

Storyline
In the year 64AD (after the Great Fire of Rome) Nero built the Domus Aurea (or "Golden House"). This is the story that is known. The story that is not common is the secret that the Domus Aurea hides and of your adventures within.

It is now 5 September 476 AD and yesterday Romulus Augustus was deposed (history will show that he will not be replaced). During Rome's fall stories of a powerful secret hidden within the catacombs of the Domus Aurea have surfaced, and being the curious type that you are, you have set out to find the truth or fiction of them.

In the beginning you create your LCS founder's background and start alone, but you can recruit as many liberals as you like. The mission is pretty straight forward, change the nation, place liberals in charge. There are many ways to do so, using raw violence, kidnapping important people and converting them into sleepers, changing public opinion, invading the radio station and broadcasting your ideals, freeing criminals, and so forth.

Please be aware that LCS is a rather mature game with lines inappropriate children, but they add a nice comical aspect to it.

Secret of Ultimate Legendary Fantasy Unleashed

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/soulfu/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Secret of Ultimate Legendary Fantasy Unleashed is a third person perspective fantasy hack and slash RPG from the creator of Egoboo, called SoulFu for short.
