It used the Satellite connector to link up to 16 players in a game where the goal was to tag as many opponents as possible within the time limit. Participants had a happy-face appearance that belied the aggressive game play; in fact it received a Parent's Association award as the best non-violent game at the 1991 CES. There was also a single player mode where players had to solve puzzles and eliminate bots to complete levels. It won best Game boy game at CES 1991 as well. Instead of shooting, you only have a piece of chalk with which you can draw. The way you defeat the enemies is different depending on the type. Some require all of the green dots to be connected, and others need to have their bullets connected back to them. There are bosses at the end of each level that will take a bit more thinking to destroy. The game is controlled entirely with the mouse, but the keyboard can be used as well.

Glatte

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/glatte/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 GLATTE

Like all of Cho's recent games, it's an abstract shooter. You control your ship with the arrow keys, and have to avoid any blue and green squares coming at you. To defend yourself you can release so called gliders by pressing and holding the Z key. Any green squares that are touched by the brown glider will become brown as well (and any they touch will become brown and so on). When you release the Z key, all brown squares explode. The more brown squares there are, the more points you get.

To understand the behaviour of the groups squares, and how they move, a passing knowledge of Conway's Game of Life, and its rules might be helpful.

Half-Life 2 Capture the Flag

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/hl2ctf/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Half-Life 2 Capture the Flag is a mod for half-life that lets you play Capture the Flag on all of the Half-Life 2 deathmatch maps, and more.

Shoot the Messenger

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/shoot-the-messenger/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Burnie the Fire Elemental must survive waves of attacking demons while preventing the Bat-Like Mailer Daemons from escaping to deliver a message.

Each time a Mailer Daemon gets past him, the time limit is suspended, and he must battle a gigantic multi-tentacled, shape-changing demon called the Zuuling.

Move Burnie using the keyboard, and fire by aiming the mouse. The longer you hold the mouse button, the larger the fireballs Burnie can hurl. Large fireballs are faster and can burn through multiple demons.

Shooting fireballs uses Mana, which can be replaced by holding the spacebar to Meditate. Meditation leaves Burnie vulnerable. Demons drop mana powerups when you send one fireball through multiple demons, each one leaves a larger powerup. Demons also drop life powerups when you create chain-reactions by burning demons that touch each other.

The game is actually episode 112 of the webcomic Nerdcore: the Core Wars. There are three possible endings, depending on how well you perform.
I am always brimming with ideas for games, but lack the ability to programme them, so on one of my many brain farts I created some levels, a scenario and characters, all for this side scrolling shooter game.
Chaosepoch actually took a liking to the idea (he likes coding games) and agreed to code the game for me.

So far all we have is one example level (i.e. a level that won't be used in the game once it's coded properly) and the basic game play structure (i.e. side scrolling, and shooting).

There are only two of the 29 enemies present in this demo clip and none of the power-ups, special moves, or anything like that.
This is merely just a little taster of what I am working on, and nothing here is set in stone.
The only thing that is definite is that the main character is a flying platypus that shoots eggs from it's bill.
Yep.

You play as a Platypus who has been sucked into a bizarre under water world of monsters, clowns and toilets who all want to kill you.
There are plenty of weird bosses too, such classics as one boss being a giant robot giraffe who hurls newts at you, and another being a giant floating mans head which resembles a tea pot his skull opens up to reveal a soggy tea bag which you have to hit to do him damage.

A lot of work needs to be done, this is FAR from finished...
