clear: left;" src="http://static.greatgamesexperiment.com/userimages/e/e746672b21b9f1980aa94bc5bed1bc64_sq.gif" title="Wilfred, the Hero Image" /> Wilfred, the Hero consists of four parts RPG, two parts cinematic, and one part music-oriented puzzles. Playing the game itself is pretty self-explanatory, but for the sake of those who love to get a dotted list with the pros and cons, some highlights include that characters gain skill points from chests rather than from leveling up, battles take place using a Action Time Bar (FF6 is the closest analogy I can draw) and, instead of dying, each character simply loses a life and gains a significant time penalty. Losing all lives, or, alternatively, if both characters are in the process of reviving at once, causes a game over. The cut-scenes are all fairly lengthy (and the dialogue is occasionally hyperbolic) so saving often is recommended.

The current version only covers the first third of the game (with a maximum level of 9), and development is paused currently. Even so, playing through the first bit is a fairly nice experience, and for those RPG-starved out there it's a very polished experience.

The mysterious planet that was once a shining example of peace and unity, now lies in the ravages of a brutal war that destroyed its most beautiful and prosperous cities.

The seven races that inhabit Mea are as different from one another as the vast deserts, dense jungles, and frozen wastelands that cover its surface. Some of the inhabitants would appear monstrous and simplistic to a humanoid while others would amaze with their advanced technological achievements.

Though they are now scattered across the planet, the races once worked alongside each other for a mutual good that led to an advanced culture, the center of which was the holy city of Krewia.

From Krewia arose three leaders, the most gifted and powerful citizens of the time. They ruled the planet with justice and a fair hand, and led the world in achieving once unreachable goals.

However, much time passed, and an ugly shadow was cast over the lands, as the high council began to speak of purifying the planet of the filthy lower races.
War erupted, the council led a small but powerful army against the races of Mea.

The war was long, and devastating. Many cities fell quickly, as the era of peace had never brought a need for defenses. Millions died at the merciless hands of the council. However, in the final battle for Krewia, a desperate militia managed to unify all of the races and defeat the council, ending the great war.

Today, distrust and fear rules the land. Most of the survivors of the war are long since dead. Historical fact has given way to rumors and exaggeration among the remnants of Krewia and Sine. Some say that the council was destroyed; others say the council was so powerful that they could only be locked away in a secret place.

The world could never be as it once was. Once he arrives, he sees that all traces of the natives have disapeared, the only things that inhabit the planet are strange monsters and the Robots created by the Natives. Galanz (The Main character in the game) goes out searching for any survivors, or clues to what has happened. Using his weaponry and his Psychic Abilities, he traverses the planet in order to discover just what is going on.

Influences are highly based on classics such as Metroid, Turrican, and the Andro-Synth sub-plot present in Star Control 2/Ur-Quan Masters.

The goal of the game is to basically find out what's going on. The "Galious" style gameplay is a reference to Knightmare 2: Maze of Galious, which was one of THE first Side Scrolling RPGs, complete with leveling and such. Of course, I'd like to go a little bit into more detail with this than what Galious did.

Since it's set to be like a NES game, there will be a restriction on the total buttons able to use, the current format it (in NES Controller format):

A - Shoot
B - Jump
Directional Pad - Move Left and Right, Aim Up and Down.
Start - Main Menu
Select - Use Psychic Ability

Psychic abilities won't be the usual "Fire Firebolt for X amount of P.P" but instead will be closer to actually changing the environment.

Can't jump over a huge wall? Flip gravity around. Can't toggle a switch? Go into E.S.P mode and flip it using your abilities. Oh snap, need to get the password, and the guy who might of had it is dead? Do a Mind Search on him, and find out his memories shortly before he met the wrong end of your gun.

This is the sorta thing I'm aiming for with this, not extremely complicated (mind sceens could just be cutsceens, and gravity for an object can easily be reversed), but fun and useful enough to warrant use.

However, I don't believe I can do this all by my own. As a Sprite/Traditional Artist or Designer, I will not be able to produce content fast enough alone, and coding is far from my strongest point. These are the current possistions available, if anyone is interested in helping out with this project, please PM me. Thanks for reading :D.
Within Eurale are seven kingdoms: Nisos, Aratoy, Oriam, Fornax, Elythria, Cathea, and Taberland. The seven kingdoms united into an uneasy alliance and built a citadel as a meeting place, which was named Avalon.

Within the land is a civilization of nomads known as the Sha'ahoul. Their religion values very highly the earth and nature and therefore they are against farming, the building of permanent structures, and similar practices which they feel destroys the earth. After discovering the existence of Eurale, they declared war on the seven kingdoms to eradicate their way of life.

Many refugees of the destruction caused by the Sha'ahoul took shelter in Avalon. The seven kingdoms sent military support to defend Avalon and the refugees. To the people of Eurale, Avalon is seen as the last hope at stopping the Sha'ahoul. The Sha'ahoul and their leader, Mithras, chose to overtake the citadel by setting up a siege around it.

The game begins with an entry in the hero's journal. The siege has been going on for several years. His brother, Corvus, serves as part of the military in Avalon. When their father dies, the hero feels that it is his obligation to inform Corvus of the sad news, so he becomes part of the crew of a ship sailing from Elythria to Avalon to deliver supplies. The Sha'ahoul manage to sink all of the ships except the one the hero is on. The ship reaches Avalon, but has lost most of its supplies. It is not possible to make a return voyage to Elythria and so the hero decides to stay at Avalon, inform Corvus of their father's death, and help out Avalon in whatever manner he can. The player gains control at this point and begins by speaking to Corvus and informing him about his father's death.

Secrets of the Domus Aurea

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/domus-aurea/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Secrets of the Domus Aurea is Eon Clash's entry into the Pascal Game Development contest 2007. Keep an eye on the home page for more information and downloads as they become available.

Storyline
In the year 64AD (after the Great Fire of Rome) Nero built the Domus Aurea (or "Golden House"). This is the story that is known. The story that is not common is the secret that the Domus Aurea hides and of your adventures within.

It is now 5 September 476 AD and yesterday Romulus Augustus was deposed (history will show that he will not be replaced). During Rome's fall stories of a powerful secret hidden within the catacombs of the Domus Aurea have surfaced, and being the curious type that you are, you have set out to find the truth or fiction of them.

There are a vast number of design features in Forgotten Legends that make our game different to others. The main difference is the way players level and the way the combat system works. Players will be able to attain higher levels of skill and power without the grind that occurs in the majority of other MMOS. The combat system is very strategic with huge amounts of customisation for players who like the freedom to design the way their characters fight.

On top of this, we have based the game on 2 other concepts, freedom and variety. Players have more freedom that other games - whether it be being able to completely change your battle style, what faction you fight for, or where you go. When it comes to variety Forgotten Legends offers players more than they could imagine with numerous viable ways for players to advance in the game.

Freedroid

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/Freedroid/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Freedroid is a clone of the classic game
"Paradroid" on Commodore 64 with some improvements and extensions to
the classic version.

In this game, you control a robot, depicted by a small white ball with
a few numbers within an interstellar spaceship consisting of several
decks connected by elevators.

The aim of the game is to destroy all enemy robots, depicted by small
black balls with a few numbers, by either shooting them or seizing
control over them by creating connections in a short subgame of
electric circuits.

PlaneShift

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/planeshift/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

PlaneShift is a cross-platform, open source, and free MMORPG in development.
UnEarthed Gods is a PC Role Playing Game being developed by Clint Brewer. If you would like to know more about Unearthed Gods or UnEarthed Games, send questions to Clint, or comment here.

To be notified when the game is available: Take a potato, cut it in half and insert a small piece of garlic in one half(it's important the piece is small...but not too small!), bind this in animal skin and bury it on an open hillock facing south.
The down and dirty:
This has been in development in a while. There is still a good deal of work to do to finish this and I'm reevaluating how I can best do this. Right now I'm planning on a more focused version. Focusing on the action of hand to hand weapons combat, and less on the magic casting and deep role playing aspect. There will still be magic but not the more complex type I have been planning for. Any feedback you can give me about what you think given the little you've seen will help me direct the future development. Your comments are most appreciated!

Thanks for taking a look!
