A few influences from FPS genres are added however. The premise of this game is pitting a human up against an evolving robot AI that learns from the player's actions.
The aim of the game is to play a game of tetris from the inside, running around the arena, climbing over the fallen blocks, trying to complete a line whilst trying to collect enough stars to advance to the next level and collecting coins and other items to boost your score and help you along the way. There are hazards to overcome, Bombs are released from completed lines along with bonus items and stars, also captive creatures called meanies are released making your task so much more difficult.

If the blocks pile up to the top of the arena, it's game over. If a falling block lands on you, it's squishy death, if you're caught in a bomb blast, it's goodnight and if you're caught by a meanie, it's so long and thanks for all the limbs.

You have to control the crane holding the current shape by calling it over to you, rotating the shape to the correct position and then diving out of the way while it falls.. there is no controlled drop in this game, oh no!

This game is currently under development for the Pascal Game Development 2007 Competition, The end deadline is the 3rd of June 2007.
Are you having trouble finding a game that still has those old quick reflex game mechanics you use to enjoy in the arcade, something that is tough enough to challenge you yet tame enough for your children?

Dispell captures the great game play of the old arcade shooters and adds its own non-violent twist, our goal was to remove the mindless violence but keep the action. The resulting "Change, Catch, Collect" game play mechanic sets Dispell apart from all other shooters.

Set in a fantasy world with a unique cast of witches, warlocks and mutated marsupials, Dispell puts an Australian twist on an old genre.

Remember the glory days of PC gaming, everyone huddled around the keyboard together helping and hindering each others progress, Dispell’s unique "hot seat co-operative mode" has been designed from the ground up to allow players of all skill levels to play through the game together by dynamically setting the difficulty level as you swap in and out of the "hot seat".

Tank Brigade

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/tankbrigade/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Well, after quite a bit of work on JumpStart and one of its demos Tank Brigade I have decided to release the demo as a full working game. Basically its a single level game built around JumpStart. The Map to play on is randomly selected from a set list (currently 4 maps) and play exists of you trying to destroy all of the enemies on the screen. Some maps are generated procedurely and some are hard coded.

In the relased version sound is supported (turned off by default, turn it on in the options screen). I'll warn you now that the sound can get a bit annoing. Luckily you can press escape, go to options, turn it off, back, and resume game.

Graphics are completely from SpriteLib GPL. If anyone wants to take the time to create real graphics for the game I'd be happy to add them in and add on a credits screen.

Secrets of the Domus Aurea

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/domus-aurea/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Secrets of the Domus Aurea is Eon Clash's entry into the Pascal Game Development contest 2007.
Storyline
In the year 64AD (after the Great Fire of Rome) Nero built the Domus Aurea (or "Golden House"). This is the story that is known. The story that is not common is the secret that the Domus Aurea hides and of your adventures within.

It is now 5 September 476 AD and yesterday Romulus Augustus was deposed (history will show that he will not be replaced). During Rome's fall stories of a powerful secret hidden within the catacombs of the Domus Aurea have surfaced, and being the curious type that you are, you have set out to find the truth or fiction of them.
