In the beginning you create your LCS founder's background and start alone, but you can recruit as many liberals as you like. The mission is pretty straight forward, change the nation, place liberals in charge. There are many ways to do so, using raw violence, kidnapping important people and converting them into sleepers, changing public opinion, invading the radio station and broadcasting your ideals, freeing criminals, and so forth.

Please be aware that LCS is a rather mature game with lines inappropriate children, but they add a nice comical aspect to it.

Wilfred, the Hero

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/WilfredtheHero/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Wilfred, the Hero consists of four parts RPG, two parts cinematic, and one part music-oriented puzzles. Playing the game itself is pretty self-explanatory, but for the sake of those who love to get a dotted list with the pros and cons, some highlights include that characters gain skill points from chests rather than from leveling up, battles take place using a Action Time Bar (FF6 is the closest analogy I can draw) and, instead of dying, each character simply loses a life and gains a significant time penalty. Losing all lives, or, alternatively, if both characters are in the process of reviving at once, causes a game over. The cut-scenes are all fairly lengthy (and the dialogue is occasionally hyperbolic) so saving often is recommended.

The current version only covers the first third of the game (with a maximum level of 9), and development is paused currently. Even so, playing through the first bit is a fairly nice experience, and for those RPG-starved out there it's a very polished experience.
Tiles, music and sound effects are standard material that is included with the package, but most of the character portraits, sprites and backgrounds seen in this release were created by the developer.

The C key is used for most interactions and menu selections. Press the X key to access the inventory screen or to cancel any choices. A medium length RPG with over a thousand rooms, side quests, a unique spellcard system and even a collectible board game, it's quite unlikely that any fan would complete this production in a couple of sittings

An old man named Fynn sits on a cliff, watching the sunset and thinking about everything he did in his life - like dreaming about flying to the stars as a kid, fulfilling his dream at the age of 17 when he joined the Alliance or when is dream ended, as his ship was destroyed by 2 unknown vessels.
In a little escape pod he drifted as one of the few survivors in space, until he crashed on a small planet.
But what happened to him afterwards?

Mondschein is a humorous RPG spreading a happy (and funny) atmosphere. Strange NPC's, beer, cats, blackmage and fighter (a little tribute to nuklearpower.com), many side quests and a storyline, that won't take itself too seriously.
Once he arrives, he sees that all traces of the natives have disapeared, the only things that inhabit the planet are strange monsters and the Robots created by the Natives. Galanz (The Main character in the game) goes out searching for any survivors, or clues to what has happened. Using his weaponry and his Psychic Abilities, he traverses the planet in order to discover just what is going on.

Influences are highly based on classics such as Metroid, Turrican, and the Andro-Synth sub-plot present in Star Control 2/Ur-Quan Masters.

The goal of the game is to basically find out what's going on. The "Galious" style gameplay is a reference to Knightmare 2: Maze of Galious, which was one of THE first Side Scrolling RPGs, complete with leveling and such. Of course, I'd like to go a little bit into more detail with this than what Galious did.

Since it's set to be like a NES game, there will be a restriction on the total buttons able to use, the current format it (in NES Controller format):

A - Shoot
B - Jump
Directional Pad - Move Left and Right, Aim Up and Down.
Start - Main Menu
Select - Use Psychic Ability

Psychic abilities won't be the usual "Fire Firebolt for X amount of P.P" but instead will be closer to actually changing the environment.

Can't jump over a huge wall? Flip gravity around. Can't toggle a switch? Go into E.S.P mode and flip it using your abilities. Oh snap, need to get the password, and the guy who might of had it is dead? Do a Mind Search on him, and find out his memories shortly before he met the wrong end of your gun.

This is the sorta thing I'm aiming for with this, not extremely complicated (mind sceens could just be cutsceens, and gravity for an object can easily be reversed), but fun and useful enough to warrant use.

However, I don't believe I can do this all by my own. As a Sprite/Traditional Artist or Designer, I will not be able to produce content fast enough alone, and coding is far from my strongest point. These are the current possistions available, if anyone is interested in helping out with this project, please PM me. Thanks for reading :D.

Storyline
In the year 64AD (after the Great Fire of Rome) Nero built the Domus Aurea (or "Golden House"). This is the story that is known. The story that is not common is the secret that the Domus Aurea hides and of your adventures within.

It is now 5 September 476 AD and yesterday Romulus Augustus was deposed (history will show that he will not be replaced). During Rome's fall stories of a powerful secret hidden within the catacombs of the Domus Aurea have surfaced, and being the curious type that you are, you have set out to find the truth or fiction of them.
For here begins the roguelike Iter Vehemens ad Necem, a Violent Road to Death. If you choose to travel along it, you will dive into countless exciting adventures to gain items of great magic, attain powerful equipment made of mysterious materials, bathe in the blessings of mighty gods and recruit loyal allies of various shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, along the way you will also often be dangerously injured, poisoned, catch numerous diseases, lose several limbs and transform into manifold different kinds of pitiful creatures in the darkest depths of hostile dungeons. And, at the end of the road, you are bound to perish in a most gruesome and painful way. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Iter Vehemens ad Necem (IVAN) is a free graphical roguelike game, which currently runs in Windows, DOS and Linux. Unlike most roguelikes, which use ASCII graphics, IVAN uses an SDL-based tile graphics engine. This allows much more information to be displayed in the level map. For example, when the player or some monsters wield a weapon or wear armor, it's normally visible on the map. Also, several types of fluids (such as acid, blood, vomit, etc.) are visible on the map. This makes it possible to track a wounded monster by following a trail of blood across the dungeon.

IVAN employs an advanced bodypart handling system. In battle, one loses only if the head, torso, or groin is destroyed. If one's arms or legs take too much damage, they become severed, and the player will merely become disabled, and unable to wield a weapon with that hand, or have to bear greater burden. Many monsters can lose body parts as well. There are several ways to replace or reattach a lost limb, such as drinking healing potions or praying.

Another unique feature is the handling of materials. Each item, including body parts, has a material associated with it. There are several ways to change materials, such as scrolls or praying. For example, a hardened leather body armour may become significantly stronger if transmuted into a meteoric iron one. As this applies to body parts, one could harden a severed limb into stone or metal before reattaching it, thereby gaining a massive strength boost of strength at the cost of dexterity.

Doom Roguelike

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/doomrl/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

DoomRL is based on the world from id Software's(tm) game Doom(tm).
Your quest in DoomRL is to descend into the moonbase complex, find the source of this evil outbreak, and destroy it at all costs.

Unlike many other roguelikes, DoomRL is intended to be simple and easy to get into. To that end, there is a limited inventory, maps of the size of one screen, and one item per tile. The number of keys you need to remember is also quite small compared to many other games.

Egg's Ultima Online

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/euo/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

EUO is an Ultima-based online RPG with many influences, varying from Diablo-style hack'n'slash to NetHack quirks. It is closely tied to the Origin Ultima V RPG.

Created originally by eggmceye to be a rogue-like game named Balrog in 1998, it was quickly turned into an Ultima-like game with the discovery of an Ultima 4 tileset created by Josh Steele, giving the game its retro feel. Over the past nine years, it has slowly evolved into an online RPG with a small but growing fanbase spanning two servers, each one incorporating slighty different gameplay.

In those nine years, the game has grown from a four player only server to one that incorporates a full Ultima V magic system, including the Runic alphabet, crafting and creature taming.
