Visual side of the game is very compelling. It follows the story of Prince Pietro (of the kingdom of PoPoLoCrois) as he goes on a quest to awaken his mother, Queen Sania, from a deep sleep. He finds allies soon in the journey, including a witch and a knight.

Battle system
The battle system is similar to the active time-based structure seen in the Final Fantasy series and in Chrono Trigger. However, in PoPoLoCrois, battles can be set to an Auto mode in which the characters will follow a set of AI instructions, such as Assault (which attacks and uses special skills), Attack (which attacks but uses no special skills), and Defend (which has characters try to keep their HP as high as possible). The battle system is fought in a way which could be seen as a scaled-down version of the battles in tactical RPG's such as Final Fantasy Tactics. The game's battles are generally very easy when compared to other RPG's.
