The game is meant to annoy you. Before you can fight the aliens you must equip your gun using the inventory screen, by dragging the gun into your hands. Items you pick up along the way, must be equipped the same way before you can use it.
There are a multitude of different hats and faces for your character, so you can find one that suits you. As you are fighting monsters, powerup boxes containing shotguns and flamethrowers will drop for your aid. Every 100 kills gives you the ability to choose a magic power to help you out. See how long you can last and how many monsters you can kill.

Tetrageddon

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/tetrageddon/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Although the controls take on the basic "pentomino" controls (Up, Down, Left, Right, Space for "drop", and Q to submit your high-score), the game-play takes a very unusual spin that tickles the "nonsense" nerve. You are presented with a quiet city scene where you control heaps of rubble dropped from the sky by a tiny alien (Minibyte), who decided to "pick on the big people" by planting his "Portable Entertainment System" (a giant crane) over Earth. The goal of the game comes in three tiers: to score by squishing people, play pentomino, and challenge your reflexes as blocks fall at random speeds. The traditional set of blocks are mixed with "surprise blocks" which you have to quickly find a place for in the grid. Even the individual block tiles are purposefully vague and hard to distinguish to add to the chaos. The game is very challenging to ones reflexes. The goal is to keep your grid under control as long as possible so that you can continue scoring on pedestrians. Only those with quick fingers can survive.

La Ranisima

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/ranisima/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

La Ranisima is an open source "Space Invaders" alike game totally written in DHTML (JavaScript, CSS and HTML) that uses keyboard.
Instead of shooting, you only have a piece of chalk with which you can draw. The way you defeat the enemies is different depending on the type. Some require all of the green dots to be connected, and others need to have their bullets connected back to them. There are bosses at the end of each level that will take a bit more thinking to destroy. The game is controlled entirely with the mouse, but the keyboard can be used as well.

Crystal Mountain Balls

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/cmb/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

The year 2044 and all war takes place inside computers. I had trained as a ball pilot from my Uncle, who had been a famous controller. However, the military accidentally sent me to Crystal Mountain. I knew that if i survived it, I would join the ranks of the Crystal Mountain Heroes, surpassing even my uncle in the skills. But it would not be easy. It would not be easy at all. I can not fail. My name is James. Welcome to Crystal Mountain.

Like all of Cho's recent games, it's an abstract shooter. You control your ship with the arrow keys, and have to avoid any blue and green squares coming at you. To defend yourself you can release so called gliders by pressing and holding the Z key. Any green squares that are touched by the brown glider will become brown as well (and any they touch will become brown and so on). When you release the Z key, all brown squares explode. The more brown squares there are, the more points you get.

To understand the behaviour of the groups squares, and how they move, a passing knowledge of Conway's Game of Life, and its rules might be helpful.

Conformity

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/conformity/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 Conformity.
