I didn't grow up wanting to be a detective, mind you. I hated the cops &amp; robbers game... the other kids always forced me to play the bad guy and gave me a good ass-kicking whenever I was caught. Not a very pleasant childhood memory, yeah? But that's beside the point. I wanted to be an astronaut. I just thought that it'd be neat to explore space, see? But it never happened, as you can probably tell. Math and physics... I can't say that they're my favorite subjects. Plus, watching the challenger explode into a big firework is pretty traumatizing.<br />
<br />
So why did I become a homicide detective, you ask? Well, apparently it's the only job that's available for me here. Crime's rampant here in Lawless City, and dead bodies continue to crowd the streets. They need people to combat crime, expendable people; preferably people that aren't too bright in the head. People with a diploma in sociology, or psychology, or some other I-just-want-to-graduate-quickly major. People from third-rate universities who can't seem to find a decent job. People like me. It's dangerous work, but it sure beats flipping burgers. Or is it? I don't know... it's too late for regret now.<br />

The rest of the storyline is still a working progress...<br />
The gameplay is purely adventure/platformer. There are no enemies in the game, which might scare away a lot of gamers, but its more about story, finding new items, planting seeds, and more.<br />
What makes it unique is the fact that there is no enemies, the art is very cool, and its going to be a storyline with a lot of twists, turns, and comedy.<br />
<br />
WARNING: there are 3 things that may come as a bit of a shock.<br />
1- There is no sound... yet. If you have musical skills, please contact.<br />
2-There is a glitch that I am not able to run into at all, but others have seen it. I suspect it may be because of computer specs, but either way if you see this, I'd appreciate if you took a screenshot and explain what you did.<br />
3-There isn't much to do yet... Once he arrives, he sees that all traces of the natives have disapeared, the only things that inhabit the planet are strange monsters and the Robots created by the Natives. Galanz (The Main character in the game) goes out searching for any survivors, or clues to what has happened. Using his weaponry and his Psychic Abilities, he traverses the planet in order to discover just what is going on.<br />
<br />
Influences are highly based on classics such as Metroid, Turrican, and the Andro-Synth sub-plot present in Star Control 2/Ur-Quan Masters. <br />
<br />
The goal of the game is to basically find out what's going on. The &quot;Galious&quot; style gameplay is a reference to Knightmare 2: Maze of Galious, which was one of THE first Side Scrolling RPGs, complete with leveling and such. Of course, I'd like to go a little bit into more detail with this than what Galious did. <br />
<br />
Since it's set to be like a NES game, there will be a restriction on the total buttons able to use, the current format it (in NES Controller format):<br />

Psychic abilities won't be the usual &quot;Fire Firebolt for X amount of P.P&quot; but instead will be closer to actually changing the environment.<br />

Can't jump over a huge wall? Flip gravity around. Can't toggle a switch? Go into E.S.P mode and flip it using your abilities. Oh snap, need to get the password, and the guy who might of had it is dead? Do a Mind Search on him, and find out his memories shortly before he met the wrong end of your gun.<br />

This is the sorta thing I'm aiming for with this, not extremely complicated (mind sceens could just be cutsceens, and gravity for an object can easily be reversed), but fun and useful enough to warrant use.<br />
<br />
However, I don't believe I can do this all by my own. As a Sprite/Traditional Artist or Designer, I will not be able to produce content fast enough alone, and coding is far from my strongest point. While the gameplay and structure is very similar to that game, the levels, world layout and objectives are almost entirely different.  The game improves on the original formula by allowing you to control three different characters, mix potions, perform item crashes and more.  In addition to Bloody Tears and the other songs from Castlevania 2, there is wealth of new music created for the game.  Much of it is remixed songs from previous Castlevania games, although there are also entirely new tracks that would not be out of place in an official Castlevania adventure.<br />

The culmination of years of goverment research into creating a genetically enhanced turkey that would provide the food of twenty average sized birds while consuming only eight times as much.  His intelligence increased thanks to gene manipulation, he became sentient to his plight and escaped, wrecking havoc over the country-side.<br />
<br />
A year ago, a young boy stopped his menace.  His name was Nicky.<br />
<br />
Now that unholy terror has returned and kidnapped Nicky's friend Tad, a tadpole who received similar genetic splicing as him.  Nicky will be forced to complete his ninjitsu training to find and defeat the fiend.<br />
<br />
The game uses ASCII graphics that should work on nearly any PC available.  The key repeat rate (see Windows -&gt; Control panel) will need to be set fairly high to complete the later portions of the game.  The game makes extensive use of the PC Speaker; be aware of this if on a system where such noise is immutable.<br />
<br />
Nick primarily moves through a primitive map system, where he will move in one of four directions assuming he is not blocked by a wall.  The &quot;Select&quot; button (space bar by default) will allow him to investigate specific areas.<br />
<br />
Some scenes involve fighting by moving and using the select button to attack.  Nick can hurt any character that is directly next to him.<br />
<br />

His people were revolting and refused to continue the sacrifices to Re the God of Sun. His anger had erupted so he set an ominous curse as punishment to the people.<br />

A great pyramid was erected and at the topmost chamber a shrine was built for Re the Sun-God. The curse was set. Should anything ever block the sun's rays during daylight hours it would be destroyed.<br />
<br />
It is now 26th October, 1930 and in just 2 hours the moon will totally eclipse the sun, triggering the curse of Re, causing the offending moon to explode showering the Earth with colossal meteorites thus upsetting the ecological balance, and plunging civilisation into a dark age of starvation and conflict.<br />

The gfx are by me, the sounds are by me (including the grunts and oofs) and we got some very nice music made for us by the talented &quot;infamous&quot;. The tough part is all by Edgar though, without him these games wouldn't happen.<br />

Collect fruits, find keys, press switches and open doors to make your way through the kastle. Dodge the twizzly boxes of doom, jump the lava and watch out for the traps. The remake did ok in the competition but the game turned out as great as i hoped. Its a joy to play, in fact only yesterday i played it through once again.<br />
<br />
We are now working on a version which includes the room editor for a collaborative project. A whole new set of user made rooms with some new twists and traps.
