This world has suffered from global warming, causing the polar ice caps to melt. The rising sea has resulted in the amount habitable land to decrease dramatically. All that is left are island chains, making land the most valuable resource on the planet. The entire population must survive and compete over these islands.

Currently, there are two distinct civilizations on Allium, settled into an uneasy cease-fire. There are the scientifically advanced Forseti and the aggressive Muspell. The Forseti have recently developed the most advanced combat vehicle in existence, the Battle Engine Aquila. The Aquila is both a four-legged mechanized tank and a combat jet, it is capable of switching modes at will. You play the character of Hawk Winter, a Forseti cargo loader operator who has been conscripted because of his piloting skills.

Battle Engine Aquila is a mechanized shooter taking place in a larger battlefield. You play only a single, yet important, role in a larger war effort. A large part of the gameplay consists of supporting and being supported by your allied forces. You will have to fight navel, air, and ground forces in both modes of your battle engine.

Enter The Matrix

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/enterthematrix/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

In enter the matrix you play a whole new adventure set in the time of The Matrix: Reloaded.
The adventures are separate to the movie but do have moments where they intertwine. There is also exclusive movie content in between the levels.

The game features plenty of weapons and even more kung foo moves to beat your enemies. There is also the inclusion of focus (or bullet time) which gives you better and more powerful moves.

The Matrix: Path of Neo

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/pathofneo/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

In path of Neo you play the main character of the Matrix trilogy: Neo. Not forgetting the obligatory focus or "bullet time" which makes all your moves slower and more spectacular. It is a collaboration between the film's director Peter Jackson and famed videogame designer Michel Ancel (Rayman, Beyond Good & Evil), remarkable in that such true cross-medium creative partnerships are rare in the realm of game development.

In Peter Jackson's King Kong, the player assumes the roles of both New York playwright Jack Driscoll and the giant ape King Kong as they struggle to survive on Skull Island.

This game is exhibitive of an industry trend to de-emphasize the role of Heads-Up Displays: it lacks a life bar and ammunition readout (the ammo readout could be enabled), which makes the game more realistic. The player must rely on subtle onscreen and vocal cues from Jack instead. During the majority of the game the player is tasked with controlling Jack Driscoll in a first person view, a character given a realistic amount of health and equipped with largely ineffectual weaponry, further adding to the challenge and encouraging the player to find alternate weapons and techniques.

Interspersed with Driscoll's adventure are levels in which the player controls King Kong himself, battling various giant monsters in defense of Ann. The Kong levels take place in a third person view, as the player directs Kong to punch, grab and use objects and certain dead creatures as weapons, bite, throw objects and creatures, charge, climb, and even pound his chest to go into fury mode, a powerful mode in which the sky becomes a golden hue and Kong becomes more powerful, faster and less vulnerable to attacks. Many of the Kong sequences fulfill the role of boss fights, as the giant ape is able to effectively battle the gigantic V-Rexes that Jack's weapons cannot harm.

Ghost Recon

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/ghostrecon/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

In Ghost Recon, you lead the Ghosts, an elite American infantry unit using the most advanced technology the USA has to offer, onto the front lines and into the battle. Including new controls, a massive character customization system, and much more, golfers will find everything they want in the 06 entry in the series. The biggest change in TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 06 is the control system, which has been revamped and redesigned. The shape stick feature allows players to carefully influence the spin and flight of the ball, making it possible to avoid sand traps or land a ball on the green when it wasn't quite lined up. The gamebreaker also makes an appearance, allowing players to add distance to shots or make putts more accurate. Putt controls, too, have been tweaked. The greens now include a grid showing slope and arrows indicating how far the ball would travel if the surface were level. Players then have to decide how the slope will affect their putt. When creating their virtual golfer, players will find a huge number of different options. Everything from facial features to clothing to accessories can be customized. Players will then have to pass a number of different challenges that test their ability to drive, putt, and more. All of these challenges help players gain the abilities needed to earn their PGA Tour card. Golfers of all levels will find that TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 06 has something for them. This installment features all of the action and features made popular by previous installments, and also introduces an "Edit Mode" which allows players to create new officers and bodyguard units. The Musuo Mode (story mode) has changed somewhat from the last game, offering a storyline for each faction (Wei, Wu, Shu and five unlockables) instead of each character. The game also adds three new characters but removes two from the previous version (though their weapons are selectable in Edit Mode).

Dynasty Warriors 4 was originally released as a PlayStation 2 game, and was later ported to PC (as Dynasty Warriors 4 Hyper) and Xbox. An expansion to the game, "Xtreme Legends" was also released on the PS2, though the PC and Xbox versions incorporate some of the improvements featured in that game. Koei released another version of the game on the PS2 as well, "Empires", which allowed players to choose their home territory, select strategies, and attack other territories with the ultimate goal of conquering China.

Turok: Evolution

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/TurokEvolution/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 Published by: Acclaim Entertainment, Inc.
This entry in the NHL series builds on the 2005 version by adding new rules and an up to date rooster that includes just about every big name in the National Hockey League. NHL 06 includes everything from NHL 05, including the revamped shooting controls. New to the 2006 version is the use of the left analog stick for deking, which in hockey terms means to dodge and fake out defenders. The right analog stick is used to pull off fancy moves like a spin or between the legs pass. These fancy moves will distract goalkeepers, giving the gamer an opening to shoot. The drawback to these moves is that only superstar characters can pull them off regularly. The game includes many of the traditional hockey game modes, including dynasty mode. In dynasty mode, gamers will control their own hockey team and have to deal with outside pressures, sponsors, and more while trying to meet the team philosophy, which is different for each team. Other modes include single season, leagues and tournaments, quick game, and online play. The graphics of NHL 06 are top notch. This time, they've been tweaked to accurately show character size differences. The defense players and goalkeepers, who are traditionally larger players, actually look larger, while the smaller and faster scorers are indeed a little thinner and smaller. This is just one small change that adds to the overall amazing gameplay of NHL 06.

NHL 2004

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/NHL04/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

EA Sports' popular hockey series returns with NHL 2004 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC, and GameCube. He is now able to launch himself off walls at 45 degree angles at strategically placed vertical shutters, slide down chutes, and balance on swinging poles, among other things.

While in the Sands of Time and Warrior Within the player fights with a sword, in the Two Thrones the player fights with the dagger of time. The designers have also added a stealth system to the gameplay. In the past two games the player had to rely solely on open-surrounding, multi-enemy combat. The Two Thrones expands upon this by adding a speed-kill system, which allows the Prince to quickly and quietly kill any enemy not aware of his presence. The player cannot perform a speed kill on one guard if another guard can see it. If the player does not complete the speed kill, the enemy knocks them off and the speed kill fails. The amount of moves or the length of time required greatly depends on how strong the opponents are, with boss battles taking the most.

The Prince also develops a split personality, and this alter-ego constantly bickers with him about right and wrong. At times, the Prince physically transforms into the Dark Prince. These transformations are scripted and not controlled by the player. During these times, however, the player still has control over the character, and for the most part, the Prince's dark side is simply an inner voice.

When controlling the Dark Prince, the player loses the ability to wield a secondary weapon, instead using the "Daggertail," a bladed whip fused to his arm. This opens medium range combat moves (like pulling an enemy closer, then slashing them) and new interactions with the environment (such as swinging off poles to reach a ledge). The Dark Prince also constantly loses health as a result of the semi-transformation, much like the Sand Wraith from Warrior Within. He goes back to full health whenever he collects sand, from either a monster or object. Also, his Daggertail gives him a different button combination for speed kills, in which he strangles his victims. The Prince returns to normal after the player comes in contact with water.
The Prince has returned home to Babylon, to find himself hunted by a supernatural creature bent on his destruction. Forced to live a life on the run, he seeks counsel from an old mystic, who explains that his actions have spawned an immortal incarnation of Fate, known as the Dahaka. In his quest to save the Sultan's palace from destruction, the Prince created a rift in the Timeline.

Hunted by the Dahaka, the Prince embarks upon a path of both carnage and mystery to defy his preordained death, as he quickly comes to realize that there's only one possible way to stay alive: journey to the birthplace of the Sands of Time, find a way to travel back into the past, and stop the Sands from being created. Without the Sands, the Prince's last adventure will not occur -- and the Dahaka will vanish. His journey leads him to the infernal core of a cursed island stronghold harboring mankind's greatest fears.

BloodRayne

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/bloodrayne/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

In 1932 an American teenage girl was apprehended in Europe after caring a path of destruction trying to track down and kill her biological father. The girl's name was Rayne and she claimed the people she killed, and her father who was still at large, were vampires. Before more information was attained, the girl disappeared.

That girl is a Dhampir; a product of her human mother's rape by her vampire father. Born with the powers of a vampire without all of the weaknesses. She was taken in by an underground organization calling themselves the Brimstone Society--a top-secret fraternity that hunts down and destroys supernatural threats. Agent BloodRayne, as she is now known, protects humanity from things that ordinary people shouldn't have to deal with.
In the years between the World Wars, Agent BloodRayne works as a killing machine for The Brimstone Society. Two missions, five years apart, turn out to be connected by one man. For years, this man has been searching the world for powerful occult artifacts to bring Germany into a new age of domination. Agent BloodRayne must face this man's elite Nazi army to prevent them from releasing creatures of unfathomable terror onto the world in their unwavering quest for the artifacts.

BloodRayne 2

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/bloodrayne2/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

When we last saw Rayne in 1935, she joined forces with the shadowy Brimstone Society to destroy a supernatural Nazi bid for dominance. Her father, Kagan, an influential Nazi collaborator, was killed in an accident at the close of the War. Cheated of killing Kagan herself, Rayne has spent the last sixty years ferreting out and destroying his many offspring, her siblings. They have banded together and formed the Cult of Kagan, pledging to carry on his legacy of creating a new era of vampire supremacy where humans are mere cattle for the bloodthirsty predators that hunt them.
