VoiD.net is a 2D platformer that tries to take advantage of current technology for revisiting and expanding the platformer genre. It's being developed with <strong>Blitzmax</strong>.<br />

<li class="user_li">It's not <em>retro</em> or a <em>remake</em>. No &quot;classic&quot; control or feel.<br /></li><li class="user_li">It's not all about <em>jumping down on enemies</em> and <em>collecting coins</em> or rings. No random items floating around. It tries to make the player feel inside a (somewhat) coherent world.<br /></li><li class="user_li">The objective of the game is not <em>get to the end of the level</em> to find out <em>the princess is in another castle</em>. As the story develops, the player will have to adapt to each plot-driven situation.<br /></li><li class="user_li">There's no <em>destined all-good hero trying to save the world</em>. You control a group of characters that have their personalities, lives, and motivations.<br /></li></ul>

At this point you'll have figured out VoiD.net has a big adventure component, and this heavily influences the gameplay. It has some RPG aspects (character levelling, skills / <em>&quot;magic&quot;</em>) and even tactical wargame or fighting games ones.<br />
Let's say I try to mix what I liked most of each (2D) genre into a platformer. This is the result:<br />

I've been into development (on my own) for more than 2 years, and I know I still have long ways to go. The game has evolved a lot since its first form and has become somewhat complex. <br />
This may sound crazy for just one dev, but I have my reasons. It's a very personal project, because I see it as my &quot;ultimate freeware game&quot; before starting to think more... commercial.<br />

Described as &quot;Clash of the Titans meets Heavy Metal&quot;, God of War equips its hero with a pair of sword-like chain weapons that can grab enemies, perform multi-hit combos, and pull off a variety of different aerial attacks. Dr Eggman/Robotnik is at it again, attempting to take over the world with his army of robots (each one containing one of Sonic's captured friends as before), a deadly new weapon, the Death Egg and now he just needs the seven Chaos Emeralds to complete his plan. Naturally, Sonic simply can't stand by and let this happen, so he goes after the Doctor again, with Tails in tow to retrieve the Emeralds and put a stop to Robotnik's plan.<br />
Sonic 2's gameplay is vastly similar to that of Sonic's previous adventure, a simple run and jump play-style while still maintaining the speed aspects of Sonic 1. It also introduced new opportunities of play with the introduction of Tails, such as the memorable Sky Chase Zone and the fact that Tails could spin his trademark twin-tails and fly, though players were not given control of Tails' unique ability until Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994). Sonic 2 also deviated from the rotating maze-style Special Zone of Sonic 1 and introduced a half-pipe style Special Zone where the player can retrieve a Chaos Emerald, a format still used in modern Sonic games such as Sonic Heroes. And this was the also the first that really introduced an incentive for collecting the Emeralds; Only when you had all of the Emeralds could you see the real ending (as in Sonic 1) AND transform into Super Sonic who was much faster and invincible as long as you kept collecting those rings. It was also the first Sonic game to introduce a multiplayer mode, where you could either race a friend in split-screen mode, or your friend could jump into the main adventure and control Tails any time.<br />

You play the whip-wielding Indiana Jones-esque archaeologist Lemeza Kosugi as he investigates the ancient ruins of La-Mulana in an attempt to find its treasure and one-up his father, who is trying to get the same treasure as well.<br />

The game is huge, with many different areas to explore and dozens of items and weapons to find. Each area has a large variety of puzzles and traps and you need to solve the puzzles in each area to discover the Ankhs and Ankh Jewels, which allow you to fight the eight Guardians of the ruins. To solve the puzzles you'll need to be able to read the tablets scattered throughout the ruins, which will require a Hand Scanner and translation software for the portable MSX that Lemeza has brought along on the adventure. Your Hand Scanner will also allow you to find items and search the bones of less fortunate adventurers.<br />

The environments are strange and unexpected.. Might be a bit challenging for some and frustrating at times, but I enjoyed it overall. <br />

It was the third game in the Mega Man X sub-franchise and the last to appear on the Super Nintendo. An enhanced version was also released on the Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and PC in Japan and Europe in 1996, and the PC version arrived in North America in 1998; the enhanced version included remixed music and anime-style cutscenes. It is currently available in the anthology collection Mega Man X Collection, which includes the first six Mega Man X games and Mega Man Battle &amp; Chase. The PlayStation version of X3, not the SNES version, appears in the X collection. Mega Man X Collection was released for the GameCube and PlayStation 2 on January 10th, 2006.<br />
<br />
Like its predecessor, Mega Man X2, Capcom included the C4 chip to allow for some limited 3D graphics and transparency effects. Mega Man X3 was the first game in which Zero is a playable character in addition to X.<br />
<br />
Mega Man X3 is an action game where the player is given a selection screen of stages to begin. When selected, the player uses Mega Man X to blast various enemies throughout the level and reach the boss character, where defeating it wins the stage and earns a new weapon for the player to utilize.<br />
<br />
The story of Mega Man X3 revolves around a Reploid scientist named Dr. Doppler. In the year 21XX, the threat of the Mavericks had been neutralized thanks to Doppler's technology, which prevented the Mavericks from going berserk. The reformed Reploids had formed an utopia near their new mentor called Doppler Town. It seemed that all was well, until the former Maverick Reploids suddenly reverted and once again began causing trouble. Dr. Doppler was held accountable, and X and Zero were sent out to contain the new threat. They were soon after called back to Maverick HQ, which was under attack by Doppler's forces.<br />
<br />
However, the two did not realize that while Doppler was indeed behind the new Maverick threat, someone else was pulling his strings. The player can run left, right and jump, but can also turn the world clockwise and counterclockwise by 90 degrees. When this happens physics works the following way: as soon as rotation starts all objects get frozen and after rotation objects continue to move with their velocities (direction and speed) they had before. With this ability you can move objects and yourself but also need to keep orientation and watch out for dangerous situations. Don't worry though, your made out of paper so you can die as often as you want to.<br />
The overall goal is to get through this collage of ripped paper. And if your quick - and don&Atilde;&sbquo;&Acirc;&acute;t die too often - you might get into the highscore list.<br />
This is a gameconcept for a mediainformatics course held by the igw at Vienna University of Technology. We made two levels that show different aspects of how actual gameplay could be like. The first level - the cave - is more jump and run style and is an easy one where you can practice and improve your rotation skills. The second one - the jungle - is an advanced level with more sophisticated puzzles. The author received a ton of mail and submissions by people creating their own Jetpack levels. The built in level editor is one of the most popular features - over 1000 levels have been created. Some teachers bought Jetpack because they considered the editor to be educational, encouraging their students' creativity.<br />
<br />
Jetpack was the top selling game for both publishers that carried it (Software Creations and Impulse Games). Jetpack runs fine on an 8086, and surprisingly well on today's computers!<br />
<br />

<br />
The Super Nintendo version is an action-adventure platformer in which the player only controls Batman, and follows him to the end of each stage, where a villain is set to appear. However, the style and design of the stages themselves are different between each other, which gives notable diversity to the game.<br />
<br />
Some of the more common features in the game is the possibility to equip with different gadgets, such as bombs, x-ray lenses and so on. Some of the gadgets are in some cases essential to complete some stage. There is also the possibility of returning to the Batcave in order to re-equip the gadgets and restart an entire stage with all the lives the players has accumulated to that point (in case the player had lost lives).<br />
<br />
The game features passwords, which leaves the player in the last played stage. The passwords also takes count of the numbers of lives remaining and the continues used. These cannot be obtained in the Hard difficulty, which means that the game must be completed from the beginning.<br />
<br />
The Genesis version, published by Sega, is an action-adventure platformer where both Batman and Robin must stop Mr. Freeze, who plans to freeze Gotham City. In order to keep the duo busy, he also frees The Joker, Mad Hatter and Two-Face, each one with their own agenda.<br />
<br />
The game can be played by two players simultaneouslty, one player with Batman and the other one with Robin. Both characters are identical in terms of playability, and both uses batarangs in long-range attacks, while they use melee atacks in short range.<br />
<br />
There are four levels, each one consisting of a straight left-to-right tranverse to the end where the boss awaits. It always seemed like they had miles and miles of forest and adventure waiting for them.<br />
If this game ever gets finished (and I'm going into this with no experience at all, only ambition), it will be an adventure platformer similar to Seiklus and Knytt - though slightly more linear.<br />

This game will be free as it is my tribute to Bill Watterson's work. I hope to have a working demo by June.<br />
