In DotA, you select a hero from over 70 different heroes. You and your team will battle your opponent's team. First one to destroy the other team's base, wins.<br />
<br />
The game has RPG elements and each heroes have their own skillset. You all start at level 1 and by defeating creeps (the mobs in this game), you can gain EXP and money. <br />
<br />
The gameplay is amazingly deep for an RPG with new strategies coming out almost daily. New patches also comes out regularly which addresses balance issues as well as adding new items and heroes.<br />

It was originally developed by Enfo, but has since been released openly and is being continued by many modders. It is loosely based upon tower defense maps. Players are divided into two teams and choose their heroes at the start of the game. They cannot directly engage in combat with the other team.
