The goal is simple - catch the plumbers as they fall from the pipes (remind you of anything?) by holding UP as they hit the giant plant's head. Catch a set amount before they break your pot to continue on.

The game was made as a retro-themed title, imitating the classic, badly-translated, super-odd Japanese games.

The game is still under construction, and after the upcoming Hedonism Games title is completed, it will be updated, as well - numerous problems exist in the game, primarily the lack of sound, lack of variety, the fact the enemies are still visible when they run off the screen and the inability to move while eating plumbers. The other big update will be commenting the code better! As it was made in so few hours, it's rather unclean code...
The robots, of which there are many in each room, all act differently, some attacking on sight, and some are speeding back and forth, waiting for you to mistime your jump over them and kill you.
Other things include lifts which are essential to getting all the items in a room, and computer terminals which allow you to reset the lifts or freeze the robots(this is temporary) in a room.
This game is an isometric-viewed arcade adventure, and even now is still considered a classic, due to innovations such as your morale diminishing (represented by a decending flag on a pole) the more time you spent in solitary after each failed escape attempt, a 'default' mode whereby your character goes into autopilot and follows the routine of the camp when either left alone for a period of time, or the morale level became irreversably low, and like the game M.O.V.I.E, a genuinely interactive isometric environment.

R Tronic

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/rtronic/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

R-Tronic is Trevor "Smila" Storey's homage to the Eugene Jarvis classic "Robotron".
Using brute force, as fun as it is, gets a lot harder in later levels because enemies have shields that can reflect shots and are generally faster and harder to defeat.

Shitcatcher

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/shitcatcher/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

We have mini forum competitions at Retro Remakes every now and then. The purpose of the game is very simple: at the beginning of each level you are at the bottom of a tower, soon the screen begins scrolling down and you have to jump to reach the top and ring the bell which is there. If you fall down or touch the enemies, you'll lose one life. The game is totally free and runs without installers.

Theme Hospital

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/ThemeHospital/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Theme Hospital is a simulation computer game developed by Bullfrog Productions and published by Electronic Arts in 1997, in which the player designs and operates a hospital. Like most of Bullfrog's games, Theme Hospital is permeated by an eccentric sense of humor. The game is the thematic successor to Theme Park, a game also produced by Bullfrog.

The game is set in a hospital, and requires the player to build an environment which will attract patients with different complaints, illnesses, emergencies, and diseases. The game has a somewhat dark sense of humor, which is similar to that of Theme Park in many ways. The player has no direct control over the patients that wander the hospital, although gameplay largely centers on influencing their actions in one way or another. The player does, however, have the ability to pick up any staff member in the building and move them to a different area (to speed up their movement from place to place) and to expel any patients from the hospital (if they are being a nuisance or causing rowdiness).

Each level consists of an empty hospital to plan and design, with set goals in the fields of financial attainment, patients cured, percent of patients cured, and hospital value. Holding negative funds or allowing sufficient patients to die will bring about losing requirements. When the goals have been met the player has the option to move on to a new, more elaborate hospital with tougher winning conditions and more diseases present. The final level in the game, 'Battenburg' consists of an enormous, yet somewhat awkward, hospital with all the diseases and rooms in the game present, all disasters frequent and very high winning requirements.

Space Invasion

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/SpaceInvasion/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Updated but faithful Space Invaders clone for XNA (both Windows and Xbox 360).
Axion is a 4 colour (greyscale) shoot'em up made for the Retro Remakes 4-colour TI calculator style competition.

Story

Thousands of years ago the Atlantians built a huge inter-dimensional portal with the intent of trapping a huge foe inside. The portal worked perfectly, but at the last minute the huge beast was able to pull their entire city in with it. Knowing the they were unable to save the city and that the beast would eventually be able to break free without anyone able to watch over it, they sent out their last hope, Axion.

Axion was a specially designed craft known as a "Dimension diver" which made it the only man-made creation that was able to seemlesly escape the pull of the triangular portal.

Thousands of years later after absorbing much of its surroundings including people, ships and planes, the beast was able to take control of its own prision, although it was still not quite powerful enough to escape entirely. Using all the energy it had absorbed over the many years, the beast took control of the portal and projected it into outer space using mankind's own orbiting satillites. The portal was now 50 times its original size, big enough to engulf the entire planet...and this was the plan. If the beast could absorb the entire planet, then it would have enough energy to break free from its Atlantian prision.

After detecting the huge power surge, Axion emerged out of the ocean and blasted off into outer space to stop the beast before it was too late.

Escape from Orion: The Next Generation

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/orion-tng/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

This a remake of the early BBC Micro game Escape from Orion, which was a simple platform game owing a considerable debt to Donkey Kong. It was originally developed in less than seven days for the 94th "Wednesday Workshop" at SoCoder, but since then it's sort of grown and developed a life of its own - nothing groundbreaking, but curiously good fun...

Your aim is to zap all of the millenipedes on each wave while dodging spiders, snails and of course the millenipedes themselves. They'll make their way down the screen until eventually they hit the bottom, at which point they will roam around the player area until you shoot them.

Each dead millenipede will, for some environmentally friendly reason, grow into a mushroom. These serve no purpose aside from blocking the movement of other centipedes and hindering your bullets. Each mushroom takes four shots to completely destroy.

If you touch any enemy, be it a millenipede, spider or snail, you lose a life - but if you can manage to shoot them first then a nice points bonus will head your way. See how long you can survive and aim for the top spot on the highscore table!
You are presented with a quiet city scene where you control heaps of rubble dropped from the sky by a tiny alien (Minibyte), who decided to "pick on the big people" by planting his "Portable Entertainment System" (a giant crane) over Earth. The goal of the game comes in three tiers: to score by squishing people, play pentomino, and challenge your reflexes as blocks fall at random speeds. The traditional set of blocks are mixed with "surprise blocks" which you have to quickly find a place for in the grid. Even the individual block tiles are purposefully vague and hard to distinguish to add to the chaos. The game is very challenging to ones reflexes. The goal is to keep your grid under control as long as possible so that you can continue scoring on pedestrians. Only those with quick fingers can survive.
