Dr. Light holds a vision of robots and humans working peacefully side-by-side. His two household robots, Rock and Roll, he considers like his own children. He also creates six other robots with specific industrial functions.

However, one day Dr. Albert Wily, an old academic rival of Dr. Light's, resurfaces after years missing and steals Dr. Light's six industrial robots. Still carrying his wounded pride from past events, he modifies Dr. Light's robots for battle purposes and uses them in his plans to take over the world.

Rock, having a strong sense of justice, pleads with Dr. Light to convert him into a battle robot. Dr. Light grudgingly accepts his request, and hence the heroic robot Mega Man was born. Mega Man now fights to stop Dr. Light's reprogrammed robots and Dr. Wily's evil scheme.
Dr. Wily escaped during his previous battle against Mega Man and has begun to build up his army again. Designing and constructing a new secret castle hidden under the depths of a volcano, Wily began to formulate new plans for the destruction of Mega Man. While out on patrol for Mega Man, Bass finds him and a battle ensues. As always, Bass' overconfidence allows Mega Man to overcome him, but little did either of them know that an event was occurring in outer space that would prove to be very dangerous for both of them. Far off in space away from Earth, two mysterious robots were also locked in battle, with one of the combatants losing fast. The failing robot, the one bent on destruction and hatred, begins a descent into Earth's atmosphere. The other robot races after it, but is too late to stop the evil robot from breaking up and sending it's remains down to the surface. The resulting crash alerts both Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, but Wily manages to find the crash site before Mega Man can. Racing to the scene, Mega Man finds Dr. Wily fleeing with a piece from the crash site, a small meteor which he claims can give him the power to take over the world. Escaping in a small capsule, Wily leaves Mega Man alone at the crash site, but Mega Man discovers the damaged body of the other robot in the remains, and quickly takes it back to Dr. Light for repairs. The alien robot intrigues Dr. Light, and while he conducts repairs on it's damaged body, Mega Man heads out to stop Wily and his eight new Robot Masters.

Dave was on his way to distribute newly printed Kilopowa New Testaments to a tribe who has been working hard to translate it for a number of years. They're really looking forward to receiving their Bibles, but Dave's plane goes down in the jungle. As he was crashing through the treetops, the Bibles spilled out of his plane all over the jungle. You would think this would ruin the Bibles, but it just so happens that the printer of these Bibles shrink-wrapped them in plastic, so all of these Bibles are now happily protected from the elements, just waiting for Dave to collect them and deliver them to the Kilopowa villagers.

Dave must run through the jungle, dodging denizens and collecting Bibles to bring them to the waiting tribe. His travels will take him from the leafy jungles to abandoned mines and caves and up to the mountain tops before he finally reaches his destination.

Mario sets out for the prestigious tropical retreat Isle Delfino, for a well-deserved vacation with Princess Peach, Toadsworth, and other many colored Toads. Upon arrival, Mario finds that the once-pristine island has been vandalized with graffiti and toxic goop. As a result of this pollution, sun-shaped objects called Shine Sprites, the island's sources of power, have dispersed, and the island is covered in a perpetual shadow. Even worse, the culprit seen spreading the graffiti is disguised as Mario (he is later referred to as "Shadow Mario"); thus, Mario is promptly arrested as he steps off the plane. Shadow Mario is identified as a blue, paintlike version of Mario with red eyes and a large paintbrush he uses to paint graffiti, including his double-arch-like tilted "M" symbol (similar to the McDonald's one) with a vertical dash above each hump of the "M".
The player can run left, right and jump, but can also turn the world clockwise and counterclockwise by 90 degrees. When this happens physics works the following way: as soon as rotation starts all objects get frozen and after rotation objects continue to move with their velocities (direction and speed) they had before. With this ability you can move objects and yourself but also need to keep orientation and watch out for dangerous situations. Don't worry though, your made out of paper so you can die as often as you want to.
The overall goal is to get through this collage of ripped paper. And if your quick - and don´t die too often - you might get into the highscore list.
This is a gameconcept for a mediainformatics course held by the igw at Vienna University of Technology. We made two levels that show different aspects of how actual gameplay could be like. The first level - the cave - is more jump and run style and is an easy one where you can practice and improve your rotation skills. The second one - the jungle - is an advanced level with more sophisticated puzzles. To solve them you have to apply the physical consequences of rotating the world to the player and other objects simultaneously.

Super Mario Galaxy

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/supermariogalaxy/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

The ultimate Nintendo hero is taking the ultimate step out into space. But now a new threat has arisen, and it's time for action once more.

Living in a post-technological Utopian society was nice for nearly 500 years until a meteor storm struck the floating island of the Gulo Nation, wreaking havoc and killings hundreds of Gulos. Not only did the meteors obliterate what was left of the once great Nation, but the Oibri, helper robots designed to help preserve life, became corrupt and started attacking the Gulos.

It's up to one Gulo to take action and save what is left of his people.

Crackdown

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/crackdown/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Crackdown pushes the action-driving hybrid genre into the next generation with the first ever truly 3-D playground. Gamers will enforce justice by any means necessary in Pacific City, a crime-ridden urban center built to encourage the exploration of the full width, depth and height of the city. Coupled with highly innovative co-op gameplay - a genre first - and an interactive world where nearly anything can be used as a weapon, gamers will be able to create a volatile cocktail of judicial oppression as they clean up the streets.

Bounty Bob rides again

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/bountybobridesagain/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Bounty Bob rides again, a remake of the classic Bounty Bob strikes back!
