The graphics and box art were designed by Chahi, while the music was composed by Jean-François Freitas.

While not a great commercial success, Another World was innovative in its use of cinematic effects in the graphics, sound and cut scenes, with characters communicating through their facial features, gestures, and actions only. This cinematic style granted Another World cult status amongst critics and fans.

The protagonist of the game is Lester Knight Chaykin; a young, athletic, red haired physicist. Lester arrives at his high-tech underground laboratory during a thunderstorm, and continues to work on his experiment using a particle accelerator. Right before the particles reach their intended destination, lightning strikes the lab and interferes with the accelerator causing the unforeseen teleportation of Lester to a barren alien planet.

The player can control Lester using the keyboard or gamepad using four directions buttons and two action buttons: one for main actions, and one for jumping. Depending on the player's current position, movement, and status, the main action key performs a variety of actions including attacking and interacting with Lester's environment. At the start of the game Lester can only kick to attack, but later he can acquire a gun. While the movement keys normally make Lester run, the game also features sections where the player must swim, roll, or drive a vehicle. The player only has one life, but there are multiple checkpoints he can return to by entering the relevant pass code given at each one.

Exolon DX

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/exolondx/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

This is a PC/Mac remake of the old ZX Spectrum game by Raffaele Cecco and Hugh Binns, written for Hewson Consultants Ltd and released in 1987.

Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors was a 3D0, PC and Sega CD game that was never officially released. The Sega version is said to have been the only version completed, but even that was in doubt for many years until some back-up copies were given to website editor Frank Cifaldi, who received them from a reviewer of the original product who had kept them salted away for so many years.

Owing to this, over recent years a lot of cult enthusiasm has been generated, most particularly over the hilariously minimalist premise of "Desert Bus", one of the mini-games within the title. As some available links make apparent, the game, or at least parts of it, are being played as a result of file-sharing and emulation.

Essentially the game, as in their video of the time "Cruel Tricks for Dear Friends", is farce and satire, and the minigames themselves are a series of pranks upon other gamers, or even the gamer himself, but all within the brand of "fun cruelty" that is a trademark of the pair.

Developer: Absolute Entertainment
Publisher: Originally intended for an April 1995 release, the game never reached publication. It's original release was planned by Absolute Entertainment and later EA Games.
Maybe there aren't any nutts left so you can gather them for winter, but your neighbour sure has lots of them. You never really liked him, did you? Take his nutts and add them to your stash!

Nuttz is a game for two players, based on Capture The Flag. Each player controls one of insanely-quick squirrels and tries to run over to his opponents base (middle hollows), steal the nut, and stash it in his own base. You can only carry one nut at a time. If you stomp the enemy mario-like, he will be immobilized for 1 second, and will lose the nut he was carrying. From time to time, like in every normal forest, on middle-top platform spawns magical FreezeGem, which will immobilize your opponent for 5 seconds, he will not lose the nut however. You can use bottom and top hollows for quick transfers between levels. First player to get 10 nuts wins. You see amount of nuts in player1 and player2 bases in top left and top right corners respectively.

Konami not only created Contra: Shattered Soldier as a 2D game, but at the same time, they've also created one of the hardest 2D action game in the genre.

You begin the game with all three weapons: The machine gun, a flamethrower and an explosive weapon. Each weapon has its own unique characteristics.

However, what really sets this game apart from all other action games is the ranking system. Each stage has only a set amount of enemies which appears in sequence. Basically, if you want to finish with the highest rank (Rank S) in a stage, you have to kill all the enemies and at the same time survive the stage without dying. You can do this by memorizing when each enemy will appear and its corresponding bullet path.

This game, is without a doubt, hardcore.
These include a plethora of hidden bonus stages with collectible tokens rewarded for completing, more diversity in level design and level settings, an unlockable "Lost World" with extra levels, and the ability to transform into various animals (the first game included some of these animals, but the characters normally rode them, being able to transform into them only in bonus stages). A portion of the game's theme now involves sailing and pirates, as exemplified in many enemies sporting a pirate fashion and the seaside locations in some levels. While Donkey Kong Country 2 introduced new features such as these, it also abandoned a few from the original. For example, the steel barrel was removed, eliminating the ability to roll on barrels, and the ability to find hidden items in the ground was removed. However, some of these removed features were brought back in Donkey Kong Country 3.
