Toy Robo is an Action-Adventure Shooter that requires quick hands and engaging strategy.  You play as Toy Robo, a robot action figure on the side of good.  Your goal is to rid the world of evil toys which appear only at night.  You will do this in Arena style combat using your Blaster and Energy sword.  To help you along your way, you can equip several types of batteries, each with different combat effects and <br />
bonuses.<br />

This game was developed as an entry to the gamedev.net 4e4 contest which required that it encorporate at least 2 of the following four elements (elements of which ALL games are apparently made of): pirates, ninjas, robots and zombies.<br />

I opted for robots and zombies because robots are easy to model and zombies are easy to animate ^_^<br />
<br />
The contest had a 6 month time limit, so I wanted to make sure I didn't bite off more then I could chew.  In the end I came in 2nd out of at least 20 - the 1st place finisher was developed by 5 people!  so even though I didn't win I felt like the game did very well and the process was rewarding.<br />

<strong>Story</strong><br />
<br />
Thousands of years ago the Atlantians built a huge inter-dimensional portal with the intent of trapping a huge foe inside. The portal worked perfectly, but at the last minute the huge beast was able to pull their entire city in with it. Knowing the they were unable to save the city and that the beast would eventually be able to break free without anyone able to watch over it, they sent out their last hope, Axion.<br />
<br />
Axion was a specially designed craft known as a &quot;Dimension diver&quot; which made it the only man-made creation that was able to seemlesly escape the pull of the triangular portal.<br />
<br />
Thousands of years later after absorbing much of its surroundings including people, ships and planes, the beast was able to take control of its own prision, although it was still not quite powerful enough to escape entirely. Using all the energy it had absorbed over the many years, the beast took control of the portal and projected it into outer space using mankind's own orbiting satillites. The portal was now 50 times its original size, big enough to engulf the entire planet...and this was the plan. If the beast could absorb the entire planet, then it would have enough energy to break free from its Atlantian prision.<br />
<br />

Basically its a single level game built around JumpStart. The Map to play on is randomly selected from a set list (currently 4 maps) and play exists of you trying to destroy all of the enemies on the screen. Some maps are generated procedurely and some are hard coded.<br />
<br />
In the relased version sound is supported (turned off by default, turn it on in the options screen). I'll warn you now that the sound can get a bit annoing. Luckily you can press escape, go to options, turn it off, back, and resume game.<br />
<br />
Graphics are completely from SpriteLib GPL. The game was originally written for RISC OS on the Acorn Archimedes. Ports exist for Linux, Windows and PS2 Linux.<br />

The player controls a small grey spaceship and levels are completed by eradicating all enemies from the screen. The difficulty and amount of enemies increase along with the level number. Enemies will typically split up into smaller versions when hit. Black holes also appear during gameplay and either attract or repel the spaceship. Many black holes at once can mean that space becomes unnavigatable.<br />
<br />
Some enemies will provide power-ups when defeated. The colour of the power-up when found will affect the ability of the power-up.<br />
<br />
There are various options which can be modified to change features such as the amount of enemies and power-ups as well as in-game visuals. I am always brimming with ideas for games, but lack the ability to programme them, so on one of my many brain farts I created some levels, a scenario and characters, all for this side scrolling shooter game.<br />
Chaosepoch actually took a liking to the idea (he likes coding games) and agreed to code the game for me.<br />
<br />
So far all we have is one example level (i.e. a level that won't be used in the game once it's coded properly) and the basic game play structure (i.e. side scrolling, and shooting).<br />
<br />
There are only two of the 29 enemies present in this demo clip and none of the power-ups, special moves, or anything like that.<br />
This is merely just a little taster of what I am working on, and nothing here is set in stone.<br />
The only thing that is definite is that the main character is a flying platypus that shoots eggs from it's bill.<br />
Yep.<br />

You play as a Platypus who has been sucked into a bizarre under water world of monsters, clowns and toilets who all want to kill you. <br />
There are plenty of weird bosses too, such classics as one boss being a giant robot giraffe who hurls newts at you, and another being a giant floating mans head which resembles a tea pot his skull opens up to reveal a soggy tea bag which you have to hit to do him damage.<br />
<br />
A lot of work needs to be done, this is FAR from finished... <br />

It's unfortunate that such a fine piece of code has been abandoned.<br />
<br />
The main idea behind Inner Space is to travel through your computer in a space ship collecting Icons. Icons in game are taken straight from the files on your disk and are spent as the game's currency. Icons are used to buy upgrades for your ship, new weapons, and also to pay off the in-game police if you get arrested.<br />
<br />
The game world itself is actually a space environment. The space is usually filled with rocks, and other hazards such as blocks that shoot fire, spinning fans, turrets, and others.<br />
<br />
Virii are present in the game. Virii shoot lightning bolts which can infect icons floating in space. If an infected icon is picked up by your ship you will lose control briefly. A virus is also a tough hazard to destroy, but CPU ships, friendly or not, will often help you, and thank for you destroying one.<br />
<br />
The AI in the game is well-done, each CPU ship in the game has its own personality and is assigned to a team. Your relations with the various teams in game and theres with eachother, will depend upon your actions. Each team has its own motive for being in Inner Space. The Enforcers are the police in the game and will attempt to arrest you or anyone that breaks the laws. If you resist arrest, the Enforcers will attempt to destroy your ship. In contrast, the Pirates are always out to destroy your ship so they can loot your goods, as well as cause trouble with the Enforcers.<br />
<br />
The various in game laws can be broken, and without consenquence if an Enforcer is not present. Laws include things such as, looting a ship, attacking a fleeing ship, wreckless boosting, stealing a prize from a race winner, attacking an enforcer, and so on.<br />
<br />
The game features various modes beyond the typical fly-and-collect-icons gameplay. You can engage in a duel with a rival in the arena, and race your ship against others in various tracks.<br />
<br />
The goal of the game is not to collect all your icons, as with today's machines and the amount of data upon them it's not really feasable. Instead, you need to collect the four noble weapons from the Inner Demon and eventually enter the Demon's Gate using the noble weapons to defeat...<br />
<br />
The games weapons are varied, besides your ships standard guns, you can make use of fireballs, snowballs, batterys, heat-seeker missles, handcuffs, donuts, protective pellets, dumb-fire missles, and many more. The noble weapons have the most powerful abilities, which are collected from random battles with the Inner Demon.<br />
<br />
If you play the game at different times of the day, the enviroment will change. For example, the computer that greets you at the start of the game will display different messages, and if played during lunch, gas cans are replaced with food items.<br />
<br />
The Amulance can be called in game, it's used to buy weapons, repair and refuel your ship, and play a practice battle against the Inner Demon. It can also save you from near death if you hail it when your ship is burning.<br />
<br />
The game also features a ship editor in which you can customize a ship, and even import a graphic to make an original one. Inner Space includes a screensaver also. There are two-different shareware versions of the game, one gives you 30 days to play and then locks you out. Another, gives you 30 days to play and after the time period lets you only play as a specific ship from the Avengers. An in-game keystroke lets you assume control of a team member's ship however, so you can use this to get a better craft, even one you made in the editor.<br />

The Hellbent story in the singleplayer mode of this game will take the player all the way to hell and bring hell into the world of the player. The player will encounter complex puzzles to solve and traps to spring, but also hordes of demons to fight.<br />

Development on this game started begin september 2006 and is planned to finish in 2008. This is a completely freeware and open-source game and is created by developers and artists that love making game content for their hobby. Mercenaries are your only hope against the Aliens who have attacked your planet. Yet on your way back you find your planet destroyed. Did you wait too long, or is something fishy about the scene? Battle through the swarms of Aliens to find the secret to your lost planet, and prepare yourself for the last battle!<br />

The idea was originally a spin off of the old classic Space Invaders. But finally grew to be a much larger project. The game was built over the process of a few years as a mere hobby. It was started when I first started programming, and ended when I had much more experience. Because of that there are some known bugs with the general core of the game that can't, reasonably, be ironed out.<br />
<br />
There are a few fun twists to the game that make it fairly fun. There are 10 playable levels, but once the game is complete you can start over on a harder difficulty level. Of course the increase is nearly exponential&acirc;&euro;&brvbar; so good luck. As of yet nobody has beaten the game three times through, although a few have made it to the last level on the third time.<br />
