The POL game is closely based on the original Pokemon Gameboy games, with most of the traditional elements remaining intact. The POL enviroment is completely 2D and replicates the graphics used in the original games. The POL MMORPG has the ability to support hundreds and even thousands of simultaneously connected players. This means that you will interact in a vast virtual world, with many kingdoms and quests, with players from all over the world.
Battleships Forever is a freeware tactical Real Time Strategy game that puts you in command of a small fleet of warships in space. Combat and damage mechanics are extremely detailed. Everything is simulated in game if possible. There are no abitrary "to hit chance" values in Battleships Forever. The game also features many innovative mechanics that you've never seen before. For example, the Cronus Battleship sports a Flux Shield generator that allows you to draw a defensive force shield around your ships in any shape you want. Another example are the Deflector modules that are used extensively through the game. These modules make a single section of a ship totally invulnerable to fire. This means that you will have to manoeuvre your ships to attack sections of the enemy ships not protected by Deflectors while keeping your own protected sections facing the enemy. Position is paramount!

Players will command picked fleets made up of Battleships, Destroyers and Patrol Craft. The completed game will include ten campaign missions and multiple skirmish modes.

The rules will follow the role-playing rules and only vary in the conversion from a turn-based system to a real-time system. All conversions will be justified and will result in similar, if not identical behavior, if viewed in a turn-based time frame.

Physics, scale, and interactions will be of highest importance, followed by accurate input/output (i.e external hardware, see MechWarrior Combat Simulator Cockpit for more explanation), and with visual impressiveness being of lowest importance (i.e. I'm not starting out with beautiful models that don't interact with their environment correctly). Network multi-player is not a priority.

The initial project will cover the technology of 2550. It will start in the year 2550 and span to current time of 3070's. Since a game that size would be imposible to create in one shot, it will start with the range 2550 to 3025, a decline in technology. Each faction will be a separate add-on as will steps in time (3025-3050, 3050-3055, etc.). Clan will be an option, but only through participation in the Exodus.

The primary focus is a single-player game, multi-player is a separate function with the possibility of tying the two together with Solaris VII. The game will be comprised of a multi-generational character (obvious given the time frame). The game will be a collection of campaigns, divided into battles. Progress through the game will present options to the user allowing them to shape their destiny. All element of the game can be either scripted (pre-determined), randomly generated, or a combination of the two.

D.O.R.C

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/dorc/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Drunk or Real Coalition (D.O.R.C) is an online multiplayer shooter in developement

Bubblomania

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/bubblomania/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Bubblomania is the online remake of the cute and psychedelic bubble popping game.

How to play Space Rocks Beta v0.3:

-Control the ship by moving the target cursor with the mouse and press 'W' or the right mouse button.

-Additionaly you can use the 'A' and 'D' keys to rotate the ship left or right (currently needs work).

-Shoot the asteroids with the left mouse button or the spacebar.

-Pause the game by pressing 'P'

-Use your ammo and thruster sparingly, you have a limited amount. Watch the icons in the upper left corner to monitor your levels. Pick up the powerups with an 'A' to recharge your ammo and powerups with a 'E' will restore your thruster energy.

-The ship icon in the upper left corner of the screen will turn darker red every time an asteroid hits your ship and will be on fire when your damage is critical mass. Pick up the powerups with the '+' in the middle to recharge your sheilds and restore the ships health. It is on loan so - you break it you buy it...

-You can pick up powerups after you destroy certain asteroids.

Have Fun!
Blastforce is a freeware top-down shooter set in the year 2917. It is being developed with the Gamemaker 6.1 (but may be changed to GM 7.0 in the future). I have been working on the idea behind it for about 10 years (the story behind it was originally written by me as a hobby). Currently, the game is being developed by myself and a friend (with another helping me with my concept artwork). We still have quite a lot to do still!

Features

In the game you will be able to fly a wide variety of aircraft- interceptors, bombers, space-helicopters, and even the odd go on the gun turret. There will also be a number of ground-based missions in the game. The game's graphics are (or will be) in a anime-ish, super nintendo kind of style.

Situation

The game is still in early stages, and newcomers are welcome. At the moment we need:
-Coders
-Pixel artists
-Manga artists

There are also other jobs available. Please leave me a message if you are interested.

Serenade of Apostasy

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/soa/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Serenade of Apostasy was inspired by the excellent Legend of Zelda series, especially The Minish Cap and Ocarina of Time, and aims to be a game that builds upon the unique gameplay and story style that the series has. Serenade follows a young man from a small village in a world that is on the edge fo destruction. To keep balance in the world, an alternate dimension exists that provides the opposite of the happiness this world enjoys. But that world has been torn apart as, defying it's own properties, it's king has died. The king's daughter is sent to Terrana to seek a hero who can vanquish the darkness that is spreading over Terrana and unite the two worlds to create a world that is in itself balanced and equal.

Soulhunter

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/soulhunter/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Soulhunter is an adventure game in 3d and it is being developed in DarkBasic Classic. The main character of the game is "Soulhunter" a lonely and tortured creature, who has lost his soul after years of slavery, despair and inprisonment. One day something miraculous happens and the creature begins his journey into the heart of the dark forest where a mysterious wish-granting spirit dwells, the only one who could possibly recover the creature's soul.

In his escape from the one that held him inprisoned the little creature managed to steal a magic sword that allows him to absorb souls from monsters, and use these souls to temporary stay alive.

This is one of those "platform-jumping/hack- and slash" games. The people that have tested it have said that it is like a mix of zelda, rayman and a nightmare before christmas. The game is still under development, I will hopefully finish it this(or next) year.
Recently Daz offered me to make music for this game and the samples he have made so far are sounding very good.

From the Journals of Doctor Carter

"Something is terribly wrong with Seahorse Island.

It's about a thirty suns now since the crops and trees began to wither and die. It has been raining for what seems like an eternity, but the rain does nothing to nourish the soil. The leaves have been gone from the trees outside my office for many suns now. The trees look like twisted corpses. I don't recall ever seeing such a sight as I do now as I write this.

Farmer Haywood has stockpiled the remaining grain, and has begun rationing it to the town. It should last us a while, but what then?

Mr. Clancy came to visit me today. He is looking for a woman--an "evil and manipulative creature" is how he put it--a mainlander spy, incredibly dangerous, and should I see or hear word of her I should report to him immediately.

It may be my imagination but I seem to be seeing a lot of people around town I don't recognise lately. Out of the corner of my eye, just stood in the shadows--watching. The townsfolk seem to pay them no heed, which I find odd given their inherent xenophobic nature -- or (dare I say it?) am I seeing things? Has the madness that is spreading across our fair island started to affect my mind also?"
Each player controls one of insanely-quick squirrels and tries to run over to his opponents base (middle hollows), steal the nut, and stash it in his own base. You can only carry one nut at a time. If you stomp the enemy mario-like, he will be immobilized for 1 second, and will lose the nut he was carrying. From time to time, like in every normal forest, on middle-top platform spawns magical FreezeGem, which will immobilize your opponent for 5 seconds, he will not lose the nut however. You can use bottom and top hollows for quick transfers between levels. First player to get 10 nuts wins. You see amount of nuts in player1 and player2 bases in top left and top right corners respectively.
Blah Blah. Game is still in development (one reason why it's insanely fast is no framerate independency ;)). Want to add 1 or 2 more features, and then eventually totally rewrite code cause it's fugly. Nevertheless, it plays nice on my comp, and that's all that matters, right?

Aster Blaster

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/asterblaster/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Aster Blaster (also known as Aster Blaster HS) is a remake of a game that I had created long ago, of the same name. It is a work in progress, and will feature a few different modes of play when finished. The goal of the game is to blast asteroids, but eventually you will have more goals to complete while simultaneously defending your starship from those hunks of floating rock.
