Description:
Worms: Armageddon is a turn based strategy game in a 2d environment. There is a single player campaign, and training missions to complete; but the main attraction is playing against other people locally or over the internet. Games can be played with 2 or more people. The graphics and sound are very cartoonish, and entertaining.

Gameplay:
Each player starts with a number of worms on their team. Each worm has a fixed amount of health. If a worm runs out of health, it will die. Once you run out of worms, you lose the match. The game is turn based, so each team gets control of one worm during their turn. You have a limited amount of time to select one of many weapons and inflict damage on another teams worm. There are also other more subtle tools to choose from for more strategic play, such as terrain digging tools, girder construction, and ropes and other means to get around the map. Weapons vary from the ordinary guns and explosives, to odd things like exploding sheep, mad cows, and homing pigeons.

There are several other popular gameplay types, with specific rules for play.

Finding online games is easy when you log onto WormNet. It's an irc-like chat interface where you can host or join games.

Halo Creator

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/HaloCreator/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

 Resolution: No change
Use your skills, weapons and intellect to survive this Gwab vs Gwab battle royale. The desktop is your arena: use the windows to gain the high ground, utilize icons in the battle for victory, break off a piece of the start bar to use as a deadly weapon!

Take on your friends or Gwab community members through the Battle Manager portal. Challenge opponents using a built-in messenger. There are three rounds in each match with three different fighting modes: a fun match (no stakes), a wager match (bet your gwablets), or a death match (pinks slips for your character). Gwablets (the game's currency) are used to resurrect dead characters, purchase new ones, weapons, and for entry into feeding tournaments. Climb to the top of the world wide leader board to become the ultimate feeder. Challenge anyone within the Gwabs worldwide network for immediate desktop to desktop battles.
The sequel to Zone of the Enders, the game was produced by, and is closely associated with, Hideo Kojima. The game is based around mecha combat. All mecha were designed by Yoji Shinkawa, the character and mechanical designer for the Metal Gear Solid series.

The sequel picks up where the last game left off. The controls and graphics are improved to enhance the gameplay. Although instead of going city to city like the first installment, the sequel is divided into sections, one after each boss.

A variety of weapons, enemies, and boss battles have been added to the game. The "Special Edition" PAL and NTSC-J versions of the game featured a variety of additions and extras to the game, including new VR Training options, added scenarios, more difficulties, a music video featuring a remixed "Beyond the Bounds" theme, improved anti-aliasing and graphical optimizations, new Orbital Frames for Versus Mode, among other improvements to the game.

While the previous installment of the series covered themes such as the loss of innocence and the morality of killing, this game featured themes such as camaraderie, duty, vengeance, and mortality.
(From the ZOE2 Wiki)

Pocket Tanks

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/pockettanks/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Pocket Tanks is a very popular 1-2 player computer game, created by Blitwise Productions (the same creator of Super DX-Ball). Adapted from Michael Welch's earlier Amiga game Scorched Tanks, this newer version features better physics, dozens of weapons ranging from simple explosive shells to homing missiles, and the ability to move your tank. Pocket Tanks is available in 2 versions: the free demo version, and the full version. The free demo features some of the weapons and terrains while the full version comes with everything, and it supports expansion packs. At the moment, you can have up to 165 different weapons total.

One of the most appealing factors of Pocket Tanks, aside from its relative simplicity, is the wide variety of weapons at the player's disposal. Although there are some weapons that simply explode, many of them have more specialization that can add a surprising amount of depth and strategy to the game. These weapon types include: digging warheads, such as the "Worm" and "Hot Foot," which can tunnel underground in a number of different patterns; "splash damage" weapons, such as the "Napalm" and "Hail Storm", which release some substance that accumulates points the more contact it has with the other player; scatter weapons, like the "Fission Bomb" and "Pineapple", that release many smaller missiles in all directions; and "direct hit" weapons, like the "Cannonball" and "Sniper Rifle", that aren't explosive, but are worth a good deal of points for direct hits. There are also defensive weapons; weapons like the "Great Wall" and "Magic Forest" will create thick walls that require the other player to use up a shot to destroy, and dirt weapons, like the "Mud Pie" and "Dirt Ball" that bury opponents and can cause them to damage themselves with their own attack. Another interesting group is the "random location" type of weapon. The members of this group, such as "Mass Driver" and "Golden Bullet" land in random locations, and may harm the intended target, the player who fired the weapon, both, or neither.

Wind and Water : Puzzle Battles

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/windandwater/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Wind and Water: Puzzle battles for GP2X

Pokemon Stadium

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/pokemonstadium/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Battle add-on to the popular Game Boy titles, based on the Japanese Pokemon Stadium 2 (Nintendo further enhanced the game by adding a gallery mode). In the game's Stadium Mode, one player competes in 80 different battles, divided into four tournaments. Beat the Stadium Mode and you're in for a bonus battle against the ultimate Pokemon warrior, Mewtwo, as well as a secret mode that gives you 80 brand-new, and devilishly tough battles. There is virtually no way you can beat the secret mode without having trained your own, elite Pokemon . One to four players compete against each other or the computer in a no-holds-barred battle with customizable rules. You can select rental Pokemon for these battles -- but that makes them much too predictable since their selection of techniques isn't determined by the trainer. You can also select quick and easy versus and random battles.

Pokemon Stadium 2

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/PokemonStadium2/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

The Pokemon wagon keeps rolling with Stadium 2, the follow-up (of sorts) to the smash success Stadium. Like Stadium before it, part two offers Pokemaniacs everywhere a chance to duel with the monsters they've been so carefully preening in the Game Boy Pokemon Gold and Silver games. Using the Transfer Pak to great effect, Stadium 2 allows users to upload Pokemon from their Game Boy cartridges and battle them in several scenarios. There are literally thousands of battles to be had in Stadium 2. Where Stadium had three Stadium Cups, Stadium 2 has four, and two of those are separated into four eight-trainer battles each. In addition, a Pokemon Academy has been added to the fun. Here, players can access a huge database of Pokemon information, participate in classes and ultimately take tests on what they've learned. The mini-games are back, as is the ability to play your Game Boy carts onscreen at Game Boy Tower.

TANX

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/tanx/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

My entry to the 2006 PGD Annual, which won the first price.
