A dark voice speaks to you: "A land of innocence, has no need for Gods... until fate intervenes." The boy suddenly runs to the water. His parents start shouting that he should stay away from the water, but the boy is already swimming in the sea and sharks are going to eat him! Then the two desperate parents take action: they start praying to the gods. A dark voice suddenly takes over and the view zooms out, the whole island is now visible. The dark voice says: "When people pray a God is always born. Able to change eternity, that God is you. Are you a blessing, or a curse? Good, or evil? Be what you will, you are destiny."

Then this wonderful innovative game starts. You are a god and can do almost everything that a god can do. You can build up cities, kill hundreds and thousands of people, perform miracles and destroy the other gods. The ultimate goal is to be the only god and defeat your rival Nemesis. An important element in this game is that you can be an evil or good god.

The innovative aspect of the game is the great amount of freedom that you have and the fact that you can't die, after all you are a god!

Black & White was released in 2001 and developed by Lionhead Studios.

Black And White 2

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/blackandwhite2/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Will you be an evil or benevolent deity?

That's the choice you must make upon returning to a warring land in Black & White 2. Like its wildly successful predecessor, Black & White, the sequel is all about moral choices.

The land, however, has transformed itself. The inhabitants of this breathtaking 3D world have lost their innocence and developed new weapons and technology. As you enter this warring world, will you make tribes coexist peacefully; encouraging villages and towns to grow into sprawling metropolises, or prompt them to inflict their will upon others by, creating and commanding large armies that seek to dominate and conquer?

Creatures in the game have grown too. They can learn strategies, master new abilities and skills, lead armies into battle and be your ultimate unit. Black & White 2 includes other new elements, such as improved graphics and miracle effects such as rivers of fire and earthquakes that yield massive destruction.

Every choice you make will have an impact. Each action and inactions prompts obvious changes to buildings, flora and fauna, all morphing to reflect your personality.

God Hand

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/godhand/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

God Hand is a throwback to the old days of gaming. Influenced by games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, Streets of Rage, and Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage. You play as a young man named Gene who lost his arm trying to save a girl from some demons. Fortunately, the girl affixed a "God Hand" to you, and now you and your new arm are looking for a little revenge. The God Hand allows you to go into "God Hand" mode and pummel your opponents with unbelievable speed, without having to fear retaliation. When the God Hand runs out, you'll be forced to rely on your quick reflexes to take out the various enemies in the game. The combat system is better than any you'll ever see. With over a hundred different techniques to assign to over 16 button combinations, you'll have a good chance against whatever will come your way.

If you're tired of demolishing baddies, you can take a break with some poker, blackjack, or roullette. If you're looking for a little more baddie beating you can try your hand at the arena. All of these things provide you with money to fund your attack on all things evil.

The soundtrack is one of the best to be heard, mixing surfer rock with some good ol' western tunes. Various moments give way to audacious clapping, and laugh tracks, allowing you to experience the games bombastic humor tenfold.

Speaking of humor, no game uses the word "douchebag" more than God Hand does. Gene has a potty mouth, and he's not afraid to use it. The characters you'll face include a paranoid psychokinetic midget on a rock, a man(?) in a gorilla suit, a slutty temptress, a fat ninja, a group of power ranger-esque midgets, and more. That list doesn't include the hilarious one-liners, poison chihuahua's, and mad slapstick comedy.

Populous

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/populous/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

In Populous you play a god, who has to watch over a people and make them stronger, so that eventually your people can conquer another group of people which are controlled by another god.

Populous II: Trials of the Olympian Gods

http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/populous2/?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss

Populous II is a direct sequel to Populous.
